I have that same cb. My uncle brought it Band new when it came out, and my Aunt gave it to me with the owners manual and original mounting bracket. It still works as good as the day he bought it. I use it on my A-99 at the house from time to time.

1976...the year I graduated from High School! I was a part of the CB craze back then and remember this Midland 'CW McCall' radio quite well. Why do I find myself drooling over this CB...lol! According to my inflation calculator this $184.95 CB would sell today in 2021 for $841.25. That was a LOT of money in 1976. Thanks for a look at this classic. Oh the memories....

I'm from Denmark, and just bought a brand new Midland 13-882C 23 Channel sealed in original box. Bought in USA on Ebay, and got it to Denmark. That's the one i have as a teenager in 1976. Unpacked it very carefully to see that it still works, and sealed it back in box again.

Nice find, thanks for the memories! After watching your video I had to go and dig out my old Radio Shack Realistic TRC-449 sideband rig, maybe I'll hook it up to see if it still works...

That trc-449 is one of the best am/ssb radios made.

I was working in the Major Appliance Dept. @ Woolco when we blew those (and many others) out of the door for $25ea, just before the FCC imposed the "can't buy a 23ch radio any longer" rule.

That radio was made by Cybernet for Midland. It has the highly sought after Pll02a PLL chip in it with the two crystal scheme. The CB'ers of the day loved that chassis for all the extra channels it could do with only the addition of a few toggle switches.

I just found at a garage sale today for $5 is a Midland 75-882 23 channel version. Is doesn't work great but it is working! Both transmitting and receiving! Can you tell me more about the 23 channel model?

I actually have one of those except mine is model 13-882B, I was also wondering if you knew the voltage for it

Yippy-Dippy... I have Cigarette Lighter to Cigarette Lighter battery charging cables... Endorsed by Johnathan Winters! But seriously, The CB craze was brought on by older CBers. They asked the FCC for more channels because they thought it was getting crowded. The problem in asking "Uncle Charlie" (FCC) for anything is they screw it up almost every time. What was not understood by most dealers and manufacturers was that *after* Jan 1st 1977, you could no longer sell any 23 channel radios! So in came these crazy ad tactics to get rid of as many 23 channel radios as posible. Realistic had an 18-wheeler songs on 12 inch vinyl Smokey and the Bandit and other CB/Trucker movies were released. It was CB mayhem! I remember many new friends I made talking about how they really screwed themselves for asking for more channels because now (1977) the airwaves were crowded beyond belief. As for the Delta Tune... If you're a side bander where you use the "clarifier" or Voicelock on Cobra's, you well know how you have to tune in someone who's radio is coming in off frequency. The delta tune was used on non side-band radios to do the same thing. Sometimes you will hear someone talking a little grainy, tinny, or fuzzy. If you tune the Delta Tune up or down, you are tuning + or - of the center frequency. You are actually tuning your "ears" or receiving channel to the other persons radio. If he comes in more clear and with slightly deeper voice, chances are you just tuned in a radio that needs to go to the shop lol.

So I found one of these cleaning out a storage unit and got it, what do I need to power it up, I have never had a radio like these and pretty much don't know shit about them, what chord or other stuff specifically do I need to power it up
@ruger96176 жыл бұрын
Troy Peeler if you have the power cord then it can be run from a 12 volt car battery but you also need an antena which must be tuned in to the rafio. If you want it for the car then you can wire the power cord to a cigarette lighter socket plug they can be had at car accessorie stores then a magmount antena base and the antena of your choice and after tuning it in off you go . Look on EBAY for an old CB radio book from the 70s they usually have very good instructions on how to set up your radio. One last thing the power lead must have a fuse holder and a three amp fuse is the norm for CB radios. Oh you could Google CB radio forums and join a couple from past experience they are usually used by people who are only to happy to help a newcomer to the hobby and you may find someone close to you that will be willing to help you set up the rafio. Good luck and enjoy " we down we gone'
