Great Red Card performance by Ryland !!! I received Shrapnel last week and really like it-- although one of my gimmicks looks FAR different than the other-- so I'm kind of stuck with only using the one. I might buy another because I do really like the effect. As far as Red Card-- it has been on my radar for weeks-- but in addition to ID-- it seems like I can achieve very similar with just doing Chicago Opener?? Well at least before the final revelation-- making any card in the deck switch backs.. Great review show as always!!! Ryland is always incredible to watch and -- Craig-- you are the GOAT-- never seen a Pro Magician so prolific in both cards AND coin sleights. Great stuff.

I think I am in the minority that I do not see Shrapnel as a significant walkaround effect. If you use a lce and borrowed ring, you can do much more and no sneaky switch. Spend a little while with a lace and ring routine, and at the end, it can appear in a sealed envelope in your wallet.

Craig - love your magic and reviews. I do magic just for fun, not as a performer. Watching Ryland do the tricks is nice. Gives me confidence that I can do the tricks as well.

Hi, I'm asking for advice because I would like to buy Red Card by Roberto Giobbi. Let me start by saying that I know the method and have seen the entire explanation. I like the effect and would like to buy it, but something doesn't convince me, namely the explanation on how to get around the fact that a "low" number is chosen. Could anyone who uses it give me help on how to handle this case? Giobbi's explanation doesn't convince me very much. How did you perform the routine in this case? Thank you.

Craig, when is crystallize available? I have a great plan of using the new coffee cups and beans from Adam Wilber, having a coffee stirrer as a prop... To then use it on 'minted' after doing the linking polo routine. I also want to use 'Sweet Disposition' with the sugar... But wondering if I would be able to use crystallize for sugar instead of salt? Like a sugar shaker you get in American diners. Plan on using some sugar cubes as a final load with Adams cups. Would love your feedback on if you think this could work as I imagine it could make for a killer set. Also plan on getting the ceramic cups branded with the name of a pretty well known coffee shop 😉 rhymes with 🌟Phucs... Like the creator of the change pad 😂😂😂

Practical had a much better incarnation of Toxic Smile back in the day, with 3 LP sized black rings in hard black plastic, that turned into 3 rainbow rings. The handling is much easier when you can grab through a ring rather than holding the flat circle. Add in a black to rainbow colour changing silk and you had a nice little kids routine that could play well to any age group. I seem to remember that the instructions were also terrible for this, so Jeremey included his own instructions with it to use instead. A better updated version of this appears to be Burnt Donuts by Daniel Diaz which may be worth a look, however I don't know if it has the same handling issues. I just don't get why magic companies release children's props in cardboard, laminated or otherwise - is it because it plays big packs flat, or really just because it's cheap to produce? Regardless, appears that quality control at Murphy's is still an issue.

I think the red card may be another one that you review again after you perform it live, Akin to how Giobbi does with the glass etc … i’ve seen the round of applause and excitement and astonishment of the audience at the end of this track and it gives you goosebumps

In the demo video of TS that you shared it looks as though he has some sort of band-aid/plaster bandage on his face between his eyebrows. Does he just have sticky stuff on his face???

Red Card is massively over-rated and over-priced. Giobbi's supposed 'masterclass' is really just an overblown explanation of a fairly weak presentation that is very particular to Giobbi as a performer. Like a few of his recent books, it trades off his (rightly) stellar reputation rather than standing on its own merits. I bought it second-hand and still feel ripped off. Glad you rightly pointed out it falls short.

Change Pad by Fook. Unless you can draw on a blank paper and put it on the board and change the picture, the whole effect is silly.

As you know some of the tricks you slated I’ve found uses for on social media but toxic smile is genuinely horrendous. I could make a better gimmick than that in 2 minutes. Shockingly bad! Probably had the gimmicks made by children in a school during an art lesson! 🤦♂️
@magic-tv2 жыл бұрын
To be honest if anyone could make it work it would be you on social media. I’ve seen you make some truly horrendous trick look brilliant.
@chrisjamesmagic83962 жыл бұрын
Sorry you had to waste your time and money on that emoji trick. If it were me and I had to release that trick I would shrink it down to key chain size and make it metal or plastic faces. But that point you might as well just do a nice little coin trick
@magic-tv2 жыл бұрын
That’s not a bad idea at all. As long as it was made well it would look pretty good.
