this was exactly what I was looking for - so I could pickup a T-Mobile home internet gateway like off eBay (can you provide the exact model #?) and then could add an unlimited Mint sim and just leave it in there? I temporarily need home internet because of an internship in another city for 2.5 months and so Mint's unlimited is $30/month for 3 month minimum

my model is KVD21 ..HW Version : R01....on mine i spent all 5 gigs without any problems so far...if I had an unlimited sim I wouldn't mind trying but..seems to work so far based on my limited tests..speeds are great and doesn't have any interruptions at all.

Next question was that T-Mobile box currently working and you removed the T-Mobile SIM out or was it disconnected and you put the mint sim in

If you get unlimited plan, does it count against your hotspot allocation?

My understanding after discussing this issue with Mint Mobile support staff is that if you purchase the unlimited service from Mint Mobile, the 10GB limite on hot spot does not apply. However the speed will start going down when you reach 40 GB/month. independently of this utilization being on a phone or on a router what I really would like to know is how do I get the T-Mobile router??

It works because T-Mobile owns mint mobile just like metro by T-Mobile should work also
