I'm also certain that there are some very lax parents who allow their TV's to parent their kids instead of spending time with them. I'm happy to say, I wasn't one of those kids! It pissed me off though when my mom or dad would take my brother and I to rent movies when I was 12 and he was 10...they wouldn't even allow us to watch PG-13 films until we actually turned 13!! @havareriksen10043 жыл бұрын
@@andrewmurray1550 The problem with that, given that the machines and the aliens exists in the same universe, is the timeline. Reese was sent back in time in 2029, so if Newt was to meet him during the resistance battles against the machines she would have to arrive at Earth before that date. However, the Hadley's Hope colony was overrun by aliens in 2179, and then there would be some time before she would arrive back on Earth. That's a time gap of at least 150 years that makes it impossible. Further, there is an official timeline to the alien universe, in which Weyland creates his company and the androids. This is featured in Prometheus and continued in Alien: Covenant. So the Armageddeon and rise of the machines does not fit into the Alien franchise timeline. So a cross over with another franchise would make more sense.

@@marccolten9801 Fusion is still a nuclear reaction, but it's the combination of atomic nuclei into a larger nucleus, as opposed to current fission which is the separation of larger nuclei. The risk was that the platoon was under the reactor's primary heat exchangers, which if ruptured due to errant weapons fire (Colonial Marines' standard issue ammo has light armor-piercing, explosive heads), the chain reaction would flash roast the facility as fusion requires extreme heat to (theoretically) fuse the atoms while also producing vast amounts of energy. Everything came together for Aliens. Director, actors, actresses, producer, musical score and of course those amazing Aliens created by artist extraordinaire, HR Giger. Without his artistry, none of this would've been possible. James Cameron is an amazing director. His vision for Aliens was spot on. His gift was his ability to put everything together. Gale Ann Hurd is a kick ass producer. Without her, none of this would've occurred. Skillful and multi talented. Able to get everything and everyone together. Sigourney Weaver. In my opinion, she is the most perfect actress. She combines talent, skill and knowledge to get her character as believable as possible. A daunting task, but she made it look easy, despite the fact she was at first reluctant to play the role again. She made the movie period. Her acting was flawless in my opinion. Al Mathews aka Apone. He literally served in Vietnam. His veteran status, real war experiences, just gave the fighting parts that much more realism and the thing is, he played it for real. Right down to how his fellow actors utilized each of their weapons. Underated for sure. His cigar was epic. Bill Paxton. Without Bill in this movie, one liners and bits of comedic relief might never have been possible. Bill was a terrific actor. Often under rated. I felt very bad when he passed away. But to quote him from this movie regarding his fight with disease...." game over man " Jennifer Goldstein. This women, being of slight build and not actually that strong, was just amazing in her role as Vasquez. She really had me convinced initially that she did a hitch or two in the Corps. I love her character. Typical Marine. Bravado, macho ass shit and kill everything I shoot. Micheal Bien. I doubt anyone could play the role of Hicks with as much charisma as Bien. After, Terminator, who else was there? The man is drop dead gorgous, funny, super nice and intelligent. His role defined what being a real Corporal in the USMC ought to be. Leadership. The man exuded it in his role. I thought killing off his character was a huge huge mistake in Alien 3. I wanted so much to see him and Ripley get together and take out the Aliens together. HR Giger. Of all the science fiction artist past and present, he is without a doubt my favorite. What sort of mind can create something so unbelievable? Yet, affect everyone that sees his work. The Alien creature is by far the scariest creature ever created. The last time I was scarred by a creature was, " The Creature from the Black Lagoon " made back in the 50's. That creature gave me the willies. Even today, as a grown adult, I am affected by this monster of the deep. Even though I know it's fake. However, the Alien creature, with that iconic elongated head. Razor sharp daggers for teeth. An inner set of teeth. That menacing hissing sound and the slimy wet look. Nothing could prepare me for Alien when I first saw it. The chest burster scene was way scarrier vs that scene in Jaws, where the Chief discovers, that dead body on that drift wood. It popped out and sent people out of their seats, but Alien topped that. It sent people out of the theatre, It was that scary. People went home thinking about it. The fear factors created by HR Giger thru his creation were on a whole new level. I so respect his artistry. I love the Alien design. It appears so real. Like something we would truly discover on some world far away from ours. Only a mind so deep in darkness could conjer up such a creature. Carrie Henn. A unknown and simply plucked off the street quite literally, her screams were amazingly real and yeah, they were real in some scenes. The beauty of James Cameron is his ability to extract very deep stuff from his actors/ actresses. Not easy. Especially with a child, but he did so and the rest, as they say, is history. I thought Carrie did an awesome job in her part. Her connection to Sigouney in real life was very touching. Such respect between two people. Truly amazing. Yes, everything and everyone came together to create the finest example of science fiction film to date. Oh I know there are others, but none will ever surpass Aliens. It literally was a perfect movie. Even today, even within its own Alien franchise, Aliens stands as the finest example of sci fi movie magic. One last note. I happen to believe in life on other planets. I hope one day, when man ventures out to the far reaches of our galaxy and beyond, that we exercise a little humility and remember, respect other life and their right to exist. I often thought about how cruel we were to those Alien creatures. Assuming so much and demonstrating our arrogance and quite frankly, our ignorance when dealing with such magnificent creatures. Perhaps the world they came from was destroyed and they simply looked for what they believed to be an uninhabited planet. One they could start again. Who knows, but mans arrogance knows no boundaries. Personally, I found myself rooting for the Alien creatures in the movie. Too me, they were and are magnificent creatures. Intelligent, brave, team players, defending themselves no matter. *END TRANSMISSION*

This movie deeply positively affected me as a child . It seems kind of ridiculous to say but I really think it did. I saw the film when I was 11 years old and at the time I was terrified of scary movies and hated them. My parents were divorced and I was lonely and had trouble knowing how to be a big kid... not yet a teen. I was at a slumber party with friends who had parents that didn’t know how to keep kids from watching late night HBO. 😂 The alien creatures honestly terrified me, but the acid i element kept me watching and it was mesmerizing... the idea that you could fight back and destroy them, outsmart and confront them was so empowering to me as an impressionable youth. As a child I could identify with newt (thought I would not have admitted it at the time) and admired Hicks the confident, reliable soldier I wanted be and Ripley the protector and ultimate hero that rose above any level you thought she was limited to. It was surprisingly powerful influence on me and my self esteem.

Ridley Scott also had conflicts with the film crew on the set of the original Alien, and at one point even reportedly punched his fist through the ceiling of the Nostromo set out of frustration. Ironically, one of the reasons the Aliens film crew at Pinewood were so resentful of Cameron was because many of them still felt loyal to Scott, even though Scott apparently couldn't stand them either. lol

Carrie Henn, the young actress, was 10 years old when Aliens was filmed. The age of her character, Newt, wasn’t mentioned in the movie. But when Ripley followed Newt into her hiding place, she found a second grade award plaque featuring Newt, which the character would have received at approximately the age of seven. That suggests Newt was seven or a bit older, but certainly not twelve years old as mentioned in a later novelization.

I saw this movie at the theater with my dad when it came out. The part where the Chest Buster came out of that little kid hung on the wall scared the crapp out of me. This is definitely one of the big great action movies of the eighties along with a female hero and a movie where part 2 rivals the 1st film

I have an odd story about the alien toy line. When i was in elementary school a friend and i came up with some new alien creatures for the toy line. Specifically the Bull alien and the Gorilla alien and a few others. We came up with stories and drew detailed pictures of what the looked like. Being kids we sent all this off to the company without thinking to keep proof of it. A few weeks we get a letter saying they appreciate the letter and drawings but they would not be using any of the concepts we came up with. Jump forward a few months and low and behold, a new series of Aliens figures with the exact same look and very similar back story come out.

That is actually an inside joke. When Jenette Goldstein showed up for the audition, she had no idea what the movie was about. Most other actors did, and were dressed in military outfits. But Goldstein thought it was a movie about illegal aliens, and showed up in regular clothes and makeup.
@macman9753 жыл бұрын
@@KarlHenryMartinsson Showed up in military outfits?? What? They never had Wardrobe then, did all the actors have to go to an Army Surplus Store before filming and hope for the best😂😂
@KarlHenryMartinsson3 жыл бұрын
@@macman975 This is actually a well know movie trivia. You know what an audition is, right? They don't give the actors auditioning costumes. The audition may be months or even a year or more before production really starts. www.cbr.com/aliens-actress-accidental-audition/ Since Goldstein didn't have an agent, that was all the information that she had to go on. While she had seen the film "Alien," she did not know that they were doing a sequel, so she figured that it was for a film about immigration. She told Starlog: “I had seen Alien, but I had no idea this was a sequel. It had been so long ago, it didn’t even occur to me. I thought it was about actual aliens, you know, immigrants to a country. I was wondering why they wanted Americans. I figured the movie was about lots of different immigrants to England.” So she showed up at the audition wearing "high heels and lots of makeup, and I had waist-length hair." She figured out that something was way off when everyone else was wearing army fatigues. It was when she went in read and saw posters for "The Terminator" that she knew that she was really in trouble. In a brilliant twist of fate, though, the nice blouse that she was wearing happened to be sleeveless, which showed off Goldstein's arms. She had taken up bodybuilding recently and it showed in her arms. She later recalled, "'She said, ‘Are you an actress or a bodybuilder?’” Goldstein laughs. “I was a gymnast. I just happened to be in the best shape of my life.'" So they agreed to see her again, only this time she wore army boots and pulled her hair back and everything and eventually, she got the role.

Dude, I WAS a kid in 1992 and those toys were really unfortunate. My brother and I got the Ripley and Queen toys. My friends and I dreamed about ALIENS figures for years before they came out and they were indeed a disappointment. I remember the Evac Fighter toy showing up as a prop Christmas gift for Captain Picard's children in Star Trek: Generations. I agree about ALIEN 3 toys and how colorful they could have been. In fact, in 1994, while on a road trip I read the novelization of ALIEN 3 and the movie finally made sense to me. I had a hard time differentiating the secondary characters and background performers. But in the book, they all had names and personalities. I love it to this day. Thanks Minty!
