I spent way too long trying to anagram "in my stew," should have realised that two vowels for three words probably wasn't going to work!

Initially thought "sounds" was a homophone indicator. Fortunately, I don't know many three-word phrases for "good" or "sounds good", so the answer jumped out!

Definitely was also thrown by ‘sounds’ as a homophone indicator. Had to come to the video for help! It’s my favourite way to learn new hints and tips.

"Sounds" was an excellent piece of misdirection. Normally when I struggle with a clue I kick myself when I finally get the answer; but this is one of those times when I have to say: "Well played, setter. Well played."

I like others though "sounds" was going to be a homophone indicator but once i used the definition clue I finally managed to spot the wordplay indicator. And honestly getting that anagram felt incredibly awesome. So thank you for this amazing clue!

Loved this. Worked through lots of different things - meet and meat, in my stew, and eventually saw stew as indicator. Then got it.

I was struggling, started to watch the video & you said take a letter. I went back and took a letter (I try to avoid that) and immediately found the anagram. I had tried an anagram but used stew and had confused myself. Thank you for reminding me to take the help if at first it’s not obvious. Great brain workout today.

Absolutely brilliant clue today! I immediately took stew as an anagram indicator and put ‘beef in my’ in the answer squares so I could rearrange them. Then I mistook sounds as a homophone indicator and got stuck trying to think of a synonym for good that sounded like it would work! Once the penny dropped, it was quite easy to rearrange the letters. Well done MC! 👏

Lovely surface, with "sounds" providing a nice bit of misdirection to make you think it's a homophone. But old hands will quickly spot that stew is an anagram indicator, confirmed by counting the letters in "beef in my". Got it in about 20 seconds.

Like most people here, i thought SOUNDS was a homophone indicator and kept on saying BEEF IN MY STEW out loud and got something along the lines of "beefing must do" 😅😅😅 Then thought BEEF was anagram indicator cuz "to beef" with someone is to fight someone and tried to rearrange IN MY STEW for the longest time. Then realized that stew could be the anagtam indicator then got the answer. Also was surprised you used a letter hint but to be fair i did take a reallyyyyy long time to figure out the answer lol

Sounds was good misdirection - I spent quite some time pronouncing synonyms for beef and good 😂. I saw stew for anagram indicator but was stuck on what to anagram. Then when I got the definition clue it came quickly. Nice puzzle!

I was trying to find synonyms for good, then I saw "f in" which took me to "fine", which took me to "fine by me". Only then did I realize what was going on in the rest of the clue. The different journeys you take in these clues are so fascinating!

I saw stew as an anagram indicator and the required number of letters prior then got confused with sound being another word pkay indicator. Stuck to my original thought and was correct.

Like others, I mistook "sounds" as an indicator, then tried to somehow fit the word "beef" into "stew". Only when I asked for a letter and got "i" did I pick up on the role stew was playing and figured it out.

Spotted "beef in my" is 8 letters, and took "stew" to mean a stir up of ingredients, but I couldn't solve the anagram! So close.

very nice clue today, the anagram was tough for me to spot because "beef in my stew" is a set of words with some weirder letters (b, f, y, w) that make it seem like there wouldnt be a nice anagram of them. sometimes a word or set of words just seems rearrangeable, but "beef in my" does not, at first glance at least, feel like it has any right to anagram to something nicely and neatly. very well set, 2 under par!

Stew was a good wordplay indicators. For a par 3 clue I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I solved this one.

I was certain that “sounds” was a homophone indicator so I kept trying to say random word out loud. Eventually I took the definition hint. Once I had that I had two options for anagram: either “beef” because having beef can mean fight so if you fight you rough them up. Or “stew” because of mixing. I looked at the words and eventually got “fine by me”

I was fixated on "sounds" being a homophone indicator until I used the hint and saw that the definition was "sounds good." Suddenly "stew" stood out as an anagram indicator and from there I could see the solution.

Stew is a mix up, so possibly an anagram. Letter count indicates either beef or stew plus in and my.

Anagrams are my kryptonite. I thought stew as an anagram indicator but just couldn't make it work for me without using alot of letters. I blame my dyslexia but I love the challenge though and do think these daily challenges are helping widen my vocab etc.

I was majorly helped in this one by it being 4,2,2. I figured "sounds good" was the definition and there aren't many two-letter words that fit next to each other like that so I worked backwards from fine by me.

I eventually counted letters and thought it might be something like an anagram. Then found it easiest to think of phrases meaning sounds good since the 4,2,2 narrowed it down a lot. Feels great knowing Angus had to use a letter and I didn’t.

Played with sounds as a homophone indicator for a while. Took me a while to realise that stew was actually the Wordplay. Once i got that, it was pretty straightforward from there.

For the anagram, weird way round it, but I wanted to figure out if the 'y' was part of either the two letter or four letter word, so I ran through each letter paired with 'y' to see if it formed a two letter word (assuming it wouldn't be with the 'm' as it was originally). When I found it could be paired with the 'b' to make BY, the rest stood out to me

3 under par 🎉 Wow! I figured out what was going on very quickly. I saw the answer format of 4 + 2 + 2 was the same format as beef + in + my (a big help!) plus the obvious "stew" anagram indicator. Then just a matter of anagramming (is that a word?) it. Wouldn't have been able to figure this out without all the fantastic lessons from Teach!

Initially I was thinking beef had to go IN stew, but I couldn't find any way to rearrange letters to make anything that made sense. So I looked at what two-letter words might make sense and by me stood out, and then I got the rest of the puzzle. So a bit of reverse engineering, along with looking at available letters.

Definitely the same! I was getting tripped up by the "in" seeing if I could make the answer by putting the letters from beef into "my stew" but that wasn't working either! But I thought "if I put the B in My I can get By... by me? FINE my me" so I managed to get to the answer slightly by mistake!

I initially thought "in my" was an indicator that "beef" is wrapped around by "stew" or a synonym for it, but i just couldnt get anything done The letter "n" made it all clear for me

Patients back = S Starts to cause = C Intermittent would indicate taking a letter every so often from “often terrible” I think it’s STOIC for suffering but I can’t work it out??

Definition is patient. Then the starts to Cause, Intermittent, Often, Terrible, Suffering = CIOTS And send those back… So you got the right answer somehow.

Tried to see what "beef in my stew" sounded like before asking for a clue, and seeing that "sound" was actually part of a definition After that, it wasn't too complicated to see that "stew" was an anagram signpost, but still a bit tricky to anagram three words at once Again, I notice that the setter tricks even those that know the game by using words that could be signposts but actually aren't Very smart. Very interesting

Assumed sounds was a homophone indicator but figured sounds good had to be the definition. I think there are way too many words that act as anagram indicators. (Not in a mad way necessarily - just a bit annoying that it's not a more consistent thing or something)
