I had a bent tooth on the plastic gear, straighten it out with the forceps. Nice breakdown.

That's great! Does tooth still work? Plastic can fail after that kind of surgery.

Thanks for posting! I had the same problem. The second hand stuttered in place so I disassembled to find the large white plastic wheel has two broken teeth. How does that happen? I checked my spares, but no luck on the part. Movement Y121A Japan is fairly common. I might find something at a flea market for a couple dollars, but putting on the train of wheels bridge with these little bits is a nightmare.

Thank you for the comment! And for the story. Y121E is hard to repair, I agree. It was made simple, but they built it to be inconvenient for disassembling/assembling. Hopefully you will find a replacement.

Thumbs up for your video ! 👍 I have a Festina F16374 with the same movement and the minute hand started to shake back and forth each time second hand is ticking. I would like to open it but I'm not sure how to do it. I noticed that you aligned all the hands before removing them. Do you have to also align the second hand when you reinstall it please ? I read somewhere that the hour and minute hand are linked but I don't know about the second hand on quartz movement. Also does the dial is glued on the movement ? 🙏

Thank you! The hands are better to be aligned before removing them to prevent their possible damage. When installing the second hand, it could be aligned to any position, just to match hand's tip with any of the second marks on the dial. For not so high quality dials, this is not necessary, because dials can have misalignment by their self. Yes, hour and minute hands are meshed together via gears and should be aligned accordingly. And dials are not glued to the movement. They are kept by dial feet. Some are also tied up by special screws.

Do the gears need oiled?

Gears are never oiled. Posts and pivots are. In this particular movement most gears are made from plastic and their pivots do not need to be lubricated. I put a drop of oil on the second hand arbor only. Thank you for watching!

hello sir my watch changes date at 10.30 pm before 12 am how to correct it

You will need to remove all hands and find the midnight point which is when the date get changed. Find that spot by rotating hands and watching the date window. Stop rotating hands as soon as date changes. Then put back hands one by one, in the following order - hour, minute and seconds hands. Point all hands to 12:00 o'clock. Do this sequence without battery inserted. Good luck!

@@sanjaypatil3097 What movement model do you have? If it has both date and day, then it's normal, that day changes in 2-3 hours after date (which changes at midnight). So, the answer is, yes, your watch is set up correctly.

This is a good question and we do not have an answer for it, as the watch came from another owner. But we can see the result of something happening inside the watch. We also found a way to fix it. Thanks for watching!
