I cry everytime I sing this song. I don't know how you do it Mark. Stellar artistry.

That voice. Those lyrics. The musicianship. Not to mention the oooooozing charisma. Mark is Morrison & Hutchence times ten. So glad he's touring, so grateful for his talent! It does not get any better. It just doesn't.

You possibly already know this but they've just reformed and are touring. I saw them in Albany this evening, awesome.

Wow that rocked. Paul sounded great too and the rest of the band. They are either really quick studies or they rehearsed like they meant it.

They weren’t called “The Worlds Most Dangerous Band” for nuttin’!! You’re right, Paul Shaffer and the boys were A Level session players who made every artist sound great. (Not to take away from Mark’s great performance in any way!)

You are right. There is an L.A. Times article titled, "Sweet and Sour 'Snacks' : Mixing Sugary Melody With Bitter Lyrics Set Miracle Legion on a Course From Songs of Romantic Upset to Social Unrest," which describes how they came up with the lyrics. Apparently, it is about an event that took place in 1989 in which a mob killed a minority when he was looking to buy a car. The song is written from the perspective of one of the mob participants.

I got to sing the Backyard at a party one night after M.L played Toads... Mark played a slide trombone, Johnny Java (the Willies, Bad Bob Band, Mockingbirds) was on bongos, Ian "Dogger" Alsgaard (Geardads, Hanna Cranna) and Ray both played acoustic guitar, and I think Detroit Dick Hullet (Dum Dum Boys) played bass.... in the Doggers fountain street apt - one of the funnest nights of my life!

Gee I wonder why he left out " there's a black boy over there"? Great beautiful music, haunting in it's realism of a tragic stupid occurrence that once was. Peace to the young man's family and friends forever. Great musicians all around Miracle Legion. For a taste of sad reality. Peace y'all, stop with the bullshit already.

Hah! Had to change "Back boys" to "McAffrey", even in a song against racism and violence you can't use certain innocuous words. Sad situation but great song.
