good video. I was actually the person who digitalised all these Miracle Mile videos for the Harold Park website in 2003., which is obviously where this one came from. Great race.

Tailamade Lombo best mare ever
@bgardiner200013 жыл бұрын
@karloomick The best mare I've ever seen was Blossom Lady. She was competing against a super crop of grand circuit horses - WB Grant, Jack Morris, Christ Vance, Master Musician, Golden Reign, Franco Ice, Chokin. TL was great of course but didn't have that quality of opposition. The mare with the most talent that I've ever seen was Norm's Daughter. She was a freak... had it not been for injury & a less than tractable temperament would have won a stack more grand circuit races. Super tough.

On raw ability he's at least as good as anything that's ever raced, let alone in Australasia... until now. I can't help but feel that Lazarus would have had his measure. As a stallion though his success is phenomenal. NZ definitely breed better standardbreds and have done for quite a few years. But it's not completely a one-way street
@karloomick8 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Stone is that why NZ'ers are flocking to sales like the APG stupid sheep shagger. You also only come here for the money as in NZ they pay a pittance

Wowee, I remember staying up just to watch this one, outstanding horse. CC had it all, strength, brilliance, a showy gait, and great looks! I always thought it was a shame that he and Courage Under Fire were never "on" at the same time, would've been a sight!

cc is simply the fastest horse nz and aussie has ever seen. no other horse has had his raw speed. westburn grant, golden reign, gamalight etc neva have beaten him. the only horse the maybe cud have beaten him over two miles was chokin.wud have wonthe miracle mile three times had it not been for that rubbish at harold park. legend
@bgardiner200012 жыл бұрын
Chokin was exceptional. I remember him running consecutive sub-2 min miles at 5. CC had very high speed, but there is nothing in all my years following the sport that competes with the speed of Im Themightyquinn at the end of 1.5 miles. CC though was the entire package. I'd love to see CC v Smoken Up at Menangle over a mile. No doubt that SU is the best mile horse we've ever seen in this part of the world. CC had the potential to be a 1:47 horse though. Shame he was gone so quickly.

+Karloo Mick She was a very nice filly for sure... definitely one of the top half dozen to have ever raced in this part of the world. There's a new benchmark now in Australasian racing. Adore Me proved herself head and shoulders better than any female that has ever raced anywhere. You can even make a case for her being the equal of any of the boys. IMO.
@karloomick9 жыл бұрын
B Gardiner Adore Me never ran i a miracle mile against the boys on the tight turning track like HP. Yes Adore Me is a gun horse dont think she could do it at HP
@bgardiner200012 жыл бұрын
The biggest races in ANZ are over the cups distance... although more and more races will be run at the mile with the introduction of "mile" tracks in Australia such as Melton and Menangle. Imagine what CC could have run at Menangle in full flight! I honestly think he was potentially a 1:46 horse had he been siloed as a miler, as they are in the US.

@karloomick I don't agree. Had he not been entire he would have raced on. Probably not to the extent Karloo Mick did but we certainly didn;t see the best of him. We had the same issue with Chandon when he was a young horse. He could run 27 flat consecutive quarters at 2 and was just too fast for his own good. In terms of natural ability I've not seen anything his equal. A dud at stud? Surely you're being sarcastic?

@karloomick In terms of high speed there's nothing I've seen that could have matched Chandon. Maybe with the exception of Rowleyalla. Especially at 3yo he was out of this world. Of course Westburn Grant was the full package. I remember him coming to Perth as a 4yo & making a mockery of a 9yo Village Kid. I'm not sure if he's the best of seen but I've not seen 1 better. Especially considering the injury he had at 5yo in WA. He is by far the best story in pacing. His win in the 92 WA Cup was epic.
