Just a note, the voice effect in Introduction to the Snow was primarily done by vocalist Joe Hawley going into a trailer in the middling of winter so with no heat so that he'd be shivering and shaking to get that sound. Not just editing. Also, Rob Cantor is the lead vocalist for Time Machine.

I think the MASSIVE connections between The Mind Electric and Labyrinth make Labyrinth ten times stronger than it would be otherwise. The chord progression is taken right from the “see how the serfs work the ground” section, and the chorus is actually referenced in The Mind Electric during the line “see how the brain plays around.” In fact, the chorus of Labyrinth actually originates from a demo for The Mind Electric.
@CGOLChris
@CGOLChris 11 ай бұрын
Two things. I always thought the reason why the beat in Time Machine stopped and then started back up was because...well, because it *was* the time machine. Having broken down and then started going haywire, hence the upped tempo and repeating of the chorus despite the finality we just heard. As for Dream Sweet in Sea Major, apparently the reason why it's 7 minutes long is because that's supposedly how long it takes for the brain to turn off after someone passes away, and the entire song is basically just the life of the album flashing through its eyes.

This was really cool to watch! As a really big fan of Miracle Musical (along with the other projects Tally Hall’s members have done), I always like seeing other people’s interpretations of the album’s story. I’ve never heard your take on it by anyone else before, and it’s pretty interesting. Anyways, fun fact! I don’t actually think Joe’s the only vocalist for Time Machine. From what I know, both Joe and Rob (the same one from Variations on a Cloud) are credited as doing vocals for the song. Idk, just thought that was interesting :D Amazing video both of you, keep up the great work! :)

Miracle Musical was created by Tally Hall, Hawaii: Part II part ii is the demos of all the tracks (The Mind Electric has some really good demos, like Demo 4!) and Hawaii: partii (pronounced party) is official 8-bit covers of at least part of most of the songs.

The fun thing with Murders actually is you were spot on with the running through the woods, not just with the surface lyrics but in the first verse the mention of the the girl finding the Erlking is in reference to Die Erlkönig by Franz Schubert (dont remember the original poet who wrote the text) but it’s for Piano and Voice and follows a man and his boy on horseback riding through a forest as the kid is being followed by the Erlking or Goblin King. The Erlking calls out to the boy in a deceptive manner which scares the boy but the father dismisses it. Upon arriving at their destination, the father looks down in horror as he finds his son dead in his arms. The piano in Murders is super reminiscent of Erlkönig’s use of the piano’s left hand being used to represent the galloping of the horse
@Watersh3d

Also there’s a reference to the Beast in the Rear, the Erlkönig, in Labyrinths too, also associated with death.

I dont really buy the storyline presented for the album. It's certainly a concept album, but I don't think it can be condensed into a concrete narrative like that. Part of the fun of the album, for me, is how many possible interpretations each song can have. I'm also not big into Time Machine, but I have to admit a fondness for Labyrinth, despite its dated nature. I agree that Time Machine and Dream Sweet in Sea Major are the standouts, but my other great loves are Murders and Stranded Lullabies. Where Stranded Lullabies is more musically understated, I think that its soundscape is beautiful and the lyrics are some of my favorites on the album. Poetry to my ears.

agreed lmao, how does he meet a girl in island to thyself? what do the lyrics in black rainbows mean, if he’s stalking her? other than the name “White Ball” (which could mean a thousand things within itself), how does the song even remotely speak of the woman dancing with another man? murders - never was a third person mentioned nor hinted at. lvl. 7 he just completely made it up lmao. mind electric - impossible to get wrong. Labyrinth - it’s much more commonly accepted that Simon does escape the institution, with Time Machine being the direct followup of those events and preparation for setting sail. With his story Stranded and Sea Major lose all cohesion, and both their emotional and symbolic themes are left meaningless - in my opinion the two strongest elements of this album.
