the concept is themes from the museum itself - eclectic, eccentric, electric, existential, enigmatic, energetic, egocentric, erratic, etc. - expressed thru music. There are so many allusions, sounds, and stories that trace back to arcade machines found within the museum. insane.

A bit of context for mucka blucka: the song was made for a sketch in an internet show they made to promote the remake of Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum in 2008 (all episodes are available to watch on youtube, btw) for a skit about a humanoid chicken who's only defining personality trait is that he's a complete asshole. It only appears briefly in a car scene, yet they made an entire song for it. The song consists of popular/frequently used hip hop phrases translated into chicken sounds, and is sung by the drummer, Ross Fedderman. This is the only tally hall song with Ross Federman as the lead vocalist :) Edit: also this album probably doesn't necessarily have an ongoing story, more just self-contained stories in each song with overarching themes. There is a side project with most of the tally hall members called "Miracle Musical" though, with their only full album being Hawaii part ii, which does have a story. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're interested in the narrative side of their music

@@DougAraujo great video, man! I enjoyed the commentary and how you didn't spend another hour pausing the songs to talk about something else like most others. I also recommend you watch Tally Halls internet show if you have nothing better to do, it has some nice humor and adds videos to a few of the songs from MMMM.

42:21 fun fact #1: they made a video where they were trying to find Mary Kate and Ashley’s address to find them, HUGE stalker vibes 💀 52:54 fun fact #2: Ruler of Everything is about time! The mechanical hands are the hands on a clock, Juno represents humanity and the distorted voice represents time. In the start it’s more regular, representing how when ur young time goes by pretty slow, and in the middle it’s way faster, representing how as u get older it goes by faster, and the end is rlly slow, representing how in your last days time goes by slower than ever. MarcButEvil made a good video on this topic.

The concept lies in the fact that these are all supposed to be songs based on different machines in this marvelous mechanical museum. Its sort of a passion project. This bands other album “good&evil” follows a similar style where each song is its own story with crossing themes. But its not based on anything particular.
@sheedays10 ай бұрын
i don’t really think there’s much of an overarching story like what was suggested. while i consider the album a quasi-concept album because of the allusions to the band and other characters being attractions in the museum throughout, i think the connections pretty much stop there, although i guess you could make more connections if you wanted to. the bonus tracks are both from tally hall’s internet show, which is why they’re really different to the rest lol.

honestly listening along to them with you made me imagine a bit of a plotline about breakup, how the person deals about it, learning a lesson and then reflecting back on their life after it's over (I dont know how id fit Mucka Blucka or Dream on this interpretation though) Also, am i the only one who thinks Be Born is actually kinda sweet? like sure, weird topic, but its essentially about a couple so incredibly excited for their child thwy are singing, the lyrics imply the mother has been waiting excitedly, and the tone of the dad clearly shows he's too, it's just a silly but lovely song about to parents excitedly waiting for theur baby to be born (pun intended)
@mysteriousinternetperson9 ай бұрын
some tally hall fans have made a theory where mucka blucka was originally filled with swear words because as said on an interview, at one point tally hall was going through an emo phase and made a song full of swear words. in the song there is a "blucka, mucka blucka!" that kind of sounds like "look out mf!" the title of the song "mucka blucka" just sounds like "mf" on its own. at the end of mucka blucka there's also a "beeiissh" that sounds like the b word, too.

Not to be that guy but PLEASE check out Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium by Chonny Jash (that is not a typo that's what he goes by) it's this weird sort of concept album that uses the melodies of various Tally Hall songs with new lyrics to vent out the things that Tally Hall's music helped him get through when he discovered them, it's really fantastic stuff

29:13 it is offensive, joe hawley apparently based it on african chants, joe himself is controversial for a lot of racist things but the other members tend to condemn said acts, the song itself is pretty old, older than the album even, so i chalk it up to being a product of its time, either way it’s catchy.
