Wright and Carey starred together in a really great movie "Shadow of a Doubt", 1943. Wright became a huge Yankee baseball fan after starring in "Pride of the Yankees" with Gary Cooper in 1942. She died in March 2005. In July of that year, at a ceremony honoring past members of the Yankees, her name was called out and honored along with all the rest of the former members, so well respected by the organization for her dedication as a Yankee fan.

Wow Rick, that was interesting. Thanks👍!! I didn't know that. I also commented on Theresa Wright, in her role in 'Shadow/Doubt', but don't recall MacDonald Carey's role, in it. All that stands out for me, was Joseph Cotton. And like you said, a really great film🎞️😁!!

Thoughts: 1. Thanks for uploading this; I'd never seen nor heard of it, and it was very interesting to see the story's small screen adaptation. 2. I understand the challenges they faced with condensing the story to 45 minutes, but it just felt entirely too rushed for the story to be told well. There was nothing believable about the relationships that had formed between Susan/Kris, Fred/Doris, and *especially* Doris/Kris - when she signed Susan's letter to Kris, saying she believed in him too, it was like "where did that come from?". 3. I found the two major story changes (the school play and the post office's motivations) to be interesting. I prefer the original version's handling of those plot points, but I didn't dislike the changes, and felt they brought something new and original to the retelling. However - Kris' takedown of Sawyer was pretty DARK! Having him club Sawyer like he was using a baseball bat, and in front of a crowd of children? Nice lesson for the kiddies, "Santa"! 4. Speaking of "nice lessons" - in this version, Mr Macy straight up lies under oath! In the original, they at least showed him envisioning all the faces of the children reacting to Kris, which made it possible for him to believe that he was Santa. In this version, he just lies bc he's afraid of his business suffering! 😄 5. I have liked Thomas Mitchell in every film I'd ever seen him in. Until this one. It's just impossible to watch this version without comparing him to Edmund Gwynn, and recognizing that Gwynn was far better in every scene. Mitchell just doesn't feel like much of a Santa. 6. There one thing about this version that I found preferable to the original: they erased the character of Alfred. I could never stand him! 😄 Again, thanks for uploading!

Lots of borrowed scenes from the original and still by far the best made in the 40's, like watching the parade from Fred's apartment, the newspaper headlines....but it's ok for a made for TV version. Seen one other made for TV around the 1950's and then the really bad ones made in the 1990's.
