The part about the team going their separate ways after the visit to the White House is sadly relatable to a lot of people whether it’s the military, athletics, theater, etc. Those people were part of your life for so long and you shared common experiences, ate the same food and endured the same then abruptly it’s over and while you may see some of them again it’s not the same.

In the year 2000 my Wife and I toured all of New England. One of our 1st stops was in Lake Placid. We went into the arena where there was a young girl and her coach on the ice and us but no one else. I heard in a very quiet whisper the chanting of USA, USA. I thought I was hearing things so I asked my Wife if she was hearing anything. She said she heard the very same thing. This sent chills throughout my body in that very magical place.

Im Canadian and I'm not going to lie i despise our neighbours to the south when it comes to hockey. Debatably one of the biggest hockey rivals ever, but any hockey player, and i mean any will respect a moment like this. We can all probably relate to one of our hockey moments that we felt like this. Its awesome.

As a Detroiter, same sentiment. That said, we also can recognize the Summit series. "You could play these guys 10 times, you would probably lose 9." And there's the Canadian team in '72, beating them not in just a game, but a series of games. Sure, no gold medal at the end. But you all kicked their teeth in, too.

A moment in time I shall never forget! At a time when America felt down and out, the children; These boys played their asses off and made every single American proud! They were such underdogs, no one expected much of them, they were AND STILL the greatest sports team ever to win a single more memorable game. Great players led by a great coach, let no one ever forget Herb Brooks, the last guy cut from the 1960 U.S. Hockey team in Squaw Valley that too beat the Russians! He never forgot and nor shall I! THANK YOU FOR THAT MEMORY!

I watched it on Live tv. I live in Northern Vermon and I was 9 years old and saw it live on Canadian TV. What a day that was. So I already knew what happened when I saw ABC's prime time showing. Different announcer then too.

Look at Craig's eyes through that mask. Then Morrow. They didn't think they belonged, they knew it.

If upstate New York is not part of New England I apologize; however, if you feel the need to nit pick go for it. From there we toured VT, NH, ME, MA, RI & CT.

As Putin calls USA "The new Soviets" i look back on this game with pride in my country when it had the desire for liberty and to be free.

To be fair the Soviet that hit Craig with his head was himself pushed from behind by a US player.

I think too much is made of the Soviet's pulling out Tretiak in 1980. I remember back in 1980 that the Soviet's Goaltender Tretiak was in a major Goaltending slump and that did not only show during the U.S. Game but in other Games the Soviet's played also. Of course the U.S. also had the best Goaltender that Tournament in Jim Craig and Herb Brooks prepared it in a Good way with Physical Conditioning and Tactics which helped the U.S. Team not only against the Soviet's but in ALL of its Games.

01:22 - Actually there WERE live TV Broadcasts of the game, they just weren't American. 04:18 - Yes, how dare that evil soviet player get crosschecked into Jim Craig! 04:57 - Lame penalty. Though consistent with International Ice Hockey expectations at the time. Also: it was slashing, not high-sticking. 08:41 That has to be one of the greatest marches to the podium EVER!

“Soviet player collided with Craig in the crease” more like he was crosschecked from behind into him. Propaganda
