LYRICS:
Rebirth Gavin Dunne 2019
I am rebirth
I am the tear in the ties
Wake me when I die again
I am rebirth
Cycle of spirit denied
Get back up and try again
Mark of the blade
Mercy on a fiery field
Fostered in the honour
Of the oldest codes
Painting the stains
Out across the centuries
Blood upon the banners
Where the waters flow
Blades spark
Grounding and growth
Stray stark
Flaws in the oaths for
I am rebirth
I am the tear in the ties
Wake me when I die again
I am rebirth
Cycle of spirit denied
Get back up and try again
Reap the eternal from the mind
Take the memory
Cast all the suffering aside
To enlighten me
Reap the eternal from the mind
See the water fall
Cast all the suffering aside
Lest it cover all
Sever the ties
Purge another parasite
Cursed are the spirits
Of the permanent
Never denied
Order in the acolytes
Truths in mortal codes
Are ever turbulent
Blades spark
Break or betray
Stray stark
Friends fade away for
I am rebirth
I am the tear in the ties
Wake me when I die again
I am rebirth
Cycle of spirit denied
Get back up and try again
Lotus bloom and breathe
Mortal wounding
Reap the eternal from the mind
Take the memory
Cast all the suffering aside
To enlighten me
Reap the eternal from the mind
See the water fall
Cast all the suffering aside
Lest it cover all
I am rebirth
I am the tear in the ties
Wake me when I die again
Rise from the earth
Cycle of spirit denied
Get back up and try again
True potential waits

This song was a challenge! Mixing taiko drums, 3 kotos, 2 shamisens, wood percussion, 4 flutes, metal clanking, gongs, orchestral strings, electric guitars, bass, a drumkit and 16 vocal layers into something that makes sense sonically was almost as hard as the game lol. Enjoy :) And don't forget ye can help keep me making music as my job by supporting my Patreon: www.patreon.com/miracleofsound

Planning on letting a bard in the D&D party I'm DMing learn this song and be able to take 2 levels of exhaustion to cast revivify. Story behind this is that the song was written in honor of the first revenant, a samurai from Lao who refused to die until his charge was properly coronated as the new emperor.
@darklord884
@darklord884 2 жыл бұрын
That is honestly awesome. Although to be fair, Sekiro can be great inspiration for lots of D&D stuff. I'm planning on playing a monk in D&D, part of the royal guard of a now lost noble line who lost his arm while fleeing his lord's estate, was given a half-magical prosthetic by a gnome inventor and is now questing to repay his debt, as well as to find the last living member of his late lord's family.

not what the game is about at all though. rather than "try again" its more about fullfill your duty at all costs, ignoring everything else. stubborn persistance. sekiro doesnt think much and surely doesnt think about "oh im dead, probably should try again" he is simply fixated on his duty and doesnt care about anything else, nothing moves or troubles him.

@@miracleofsound That may well be the case, just a matter of style. I think your songs for almost a year haven't had that kind of sound that I really crave. Dream Again was the last song of yours I listened non-stop, while Embers Rise and Ode to Fury I liked them, but just not that much to listen to more than a couple of times. Befote that, Giants Fall and Machine Hearts had me totally addicted to your music, and my days were spent almost at all times with a playlist of your songs in the background. Then Show your Style I kinda liked too, I've also spent some time listening to that one, but not nearly as much as the others. Until this, Rebirth. I've spent a couple of hours listening to it now, and as you said, now I can kind of put what makes it special, and it was just... The style. I really liked the rock/oriental mix, sort of exotic sounding but epic at the same time, I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly but it's what it feels like to me. Its a song that makes me want to play the game even more, and makes me like it just by itself, independently of the video footage or the "biased factor" for the theme/lyrics referencing games I've actually played before. It's just... Good for my tastes I guess

Much like what the other people in the replies have already said, this music form has been known and experimented with by other people. That obviously doesn't mean it's a challenge to make it function well, Gavin did a great job with this song, just that there are other examples of this with other bands. Most are Japanese, but strong examples are Wagakki Band (big recommendation from me), Undead Corporation (their older Touhou arrangements) and O-LIFE JAPAN with some of their songs.

It's got a different playstyle and tone. It's much more focused on what it's doing. There's similarities to Soulsborne's difficulty and challenge, but that's really it. If you try to play it like a Souls game you're gonna struggle. It's fun as all hell though. All the epic stuff you see the character do in the video above? You can do *in game* as a perfectly optimal use of the mechanics. You feel like a ninja in the best way.

@@Andoriol Yeah, I recently started playing it and man, it's feels so much... I don't know how to describe it. It feels *better* than Dark Souls in every way. When I die, it doesn't feel like the game is just screwing me over, it feels like "Yeah, I know I messed up" and the satisfaction over beating a challenge is so much more satisfying and refreshing. Probably gonna be a favorite game for a while

Now when I see the Scene with Isshin and Tamura, I am really believing that there could be a good movie coming from that. I mean, covering the early life of Isshin, his struggle and fighting to become the Sword Saint, the rebellion he started, to see the Heroes like Ungo, Ako, Yashariku in their prime and Gyobou Oniwa as well, it would be something, if done right, of course.
