Miraculous Ladybug has unique ideas like a superhero whose powers come from a kwamii that's passed down throughout history. Seeing that Historical figures had them too that's interesting! However, the actual execution is a mess. Gabriel has the potential to be a fascinating villain who is conflicted between keeping his wife alive and his son's safety. He could be like Mr.Freeze from the Batman the animated series in terms of depth. But no they keep on changing his character. Your version of Gabriel is awesome he actually looks like an elite fashion designer.

Like, even in the Harley Queen show (which is so good and I’ll recommend to my dying breath), when he’s kind of played as a joke, he’s still interesting. Like, the last we see of him... wow.

in japan (and i'm not sure if other asian countries) white is a color meant for mourning so if he is trying to incorporate asian elements to his fashion designs is quite fitting for him to be wearing a lot of white also in french, hawkmoth's is actually named papillon which literally just means butterfly (and fun fact, agreste is the french name for a type of butterfly called "grayling" in english), but yeah even with that in mind the outfit desing is soooooooo basic literally the only butterfly themed or shaped thing i can remember on the top of my mind about his outfit is the lines on his mask and still yeah that shit looks more like a bdsm mask than a supervillain mask

Okay you mentioned Natalie so I have to bring this up. I’m fine with the solid blue for Natalie’s villain outfit. My issues comes with that if a guy is wielding the peacock miraculous it should have at least some hints of vibrant colors. Obviously because in nature female peacocks are less colorful compared to male peacocks. It’s always frustrated me how the outfit for peacock miraculous is just like a solid dark blue.

I love the redesign, I love how extravagant the villian design is. But it's definitely one of those, illustration only type designs, building a 3D model like that and rigging it appropriately would be hell but possible, and it'd be even worse trying to animate it in 2D. It's a beautiful design but my poor animator heart can't handle all the detail.

Honestly, I think it could easily be modified to be more animation friendly. Many of the details could be changed and it wouldn’t hurt the design too much. Though, as the creator has said, she just does it for herself. :)

The fact that the designers of this show managed to make a BUTTERFLY themed character look bad is just beyond me. Like, butterflies are such beautiful creatures so in theory, a butterfly-themed costume made by a famous fashion designer should look extremely beautiful. But nope, they picked the worst shade of purple for him, gave him an ugly bald mask and didn't even bother to give him butterfly wing patterns

Hawk Moth's name was changed from "le Papillon", which literally translates to "the butterfly" as he is the holder of the Butterfly Miraculous. The reason behind this was because as a villain, he's meant to be big, scary and vicious as opposed to sweet and loveable, like his kwami, Nooroo

In my personal opinion, Natalie’s villain costume is my favorite, it’s more creative then just a body suit and mask, it’s a dress and cool skin color, and that hat, I wouldn’t be able to tell it’s Natalie, which is what I want from the show, but eh, ones wishes can come true through fan made things.

Sympathetic villains aren't supposed to be good or redeemable. They can be really good and interesting if done right and shown that either what they're doing is not okay, or that they don't really want to do with they do but feel pressured from a unknown force to do such a thing. DAMN! Both designs of the civilian and the villain design is absolutely stunning! The additional wing design to his civilian coat, the change in colors in his villain design, and the villain design in general speaks “A villain who is so goddamn fabulous and extra that he will blind you the moment you meet him”. I will say the colors make me think of the peacock which at first made me think “why?” Because the butterfly brooch is purple, but then I like to think it’s because his motivation to bring his wife back becomes reflected in the color scheme. Overall, loved the civilian design giving a mourning tone and more of a hint to him being Hawkmoth, and the extravagant design of his villain form with the additional moth wings. It’s so beautiful :3 Edit: also, the civilian design makes me think he would walk on the catwalk himself before he shows off his own designs. And I love it :3 (also those pants are beautiful, also my sister says he looks like a true model now so you did wonderfully)

Personally I like to think he made Hawkmoth ugly on purpose, same with the Akuma designs, so no one would connect them to one of the most (in-universe) fashionable men in Paris. Same with the Akuma pun names to distance him from cold serious Gabriel. Almost like all his villain-isms are half a bit, and half him letting loose the way his sons does as Chat. No excuse for the civilian design though. Besides maybe “what do I care how good my look is, I don’t leave my house anymore.” Still, your designs are definitely better to look at. I especially love the cape. My one gripe is that the villain suit looks hard to fight in; but that’s mostly the cape/coat, which he could throw off to throw down, so I don’t mind it too much.

It baffles me how bad and bland Hawkmoth's original costume was because moths are so. Fucking. Beautiful (which I just came across you mentioning 😅). Your redesign does a way better job of using that name, even if you changed it (which btw, love that). This was honestly amazing and overall, Gabe just feels more like a fashion designer. Oh no why the show is so bad when other can sell us litteral dream outfits and stories... So coherent, and the Lunar Moth is a better choice ; even if the costume is busy, the fusion will work because of the feather look moth already have and the colors match! In french, he's called Le Papillon = The Butterfly, so it work better than the english version, but Lunaire sound so good! "Je suis ~Lunaire~" (with a stellar voice that freak out everyone) I totally see him with a capeline now, a black fur coat, and heels not high, but higher than masculine shoes have. In France, men are still "manly", but I'm not from Paris, and things are different there. Also, fashion globaly is changing and Come on fashion designer do what they want ! I don't even go here but I _do_ love concept art and fan redesigns.. and if there's one thing the Miraculous fandom is good at it's scrounging up concepts arts and redesigning _everything._ That's why I know there was a version of Hawk Moth where he not only had a fully silver helmet covering his mouth (the kind that you can imagine the characters voice echoing menacingly from within it) but his mask was also _an expressionless, eyeless butterfly shaped _*_mirror_*_ that would reflect Paris' skyline as he gazed over the city for his victims!_ Now THAT would have been a cool final design! But no, the real final design went with Mr Baby-teeth mc Cheekbones. Damn. EDIT: 8:53 THERE IT IS! GOD DAMN! YOU GUYS DESERVED THAT DESIGN! These redesigns are a GOD SENT! Legit, the only reason when I watched Season 1 that I did not assume Gabriel was the villain was 1) due to his teeth not looking like they aligned perfectly when he transformed into his villain side (probably a modeling issue). And 2) I did not want another "Father is distant but evil trope,"; but I agree that his concept design would have worked so much better. And on another note: YES!!!!! THANK YOU for making his powered-up form more monstrous! For the longest time, I theorized that the more damaged or evil or selfish uses the miraculous took on by the user, the more evil/ corrupt they would get. (Sadly, that did not come to fruition) But this just takes it to a whole new level by making them more monstrous in design, and I love it! This is also a good use of contrasting the hero designs from the villain when they do not look like they could be on the same team. So thank you for blessing us with this GORGEOUS villain design!

I think this show really could've benefited from consulting actual designers or even just fashion enthusiasts. The fashion choices are reminiscent of the colorful but dated styles in Totally Spies! (another show that Thomas Astruc worked on). Winx Club consulted Italian designers, I believe and that show wasn't even that focused on fashion. They were just teenaged girls. But in Miraculous Ladybug, you have several fashion-forward characters, including professional and aspiring fashion designers. I don't know what they were thinking dressing Gabriel Agreste like some random rich guy on a yacht with that white blazer and red slacks combo, and putting Chloé in blue eyeshadow and frosted lips like it was the early 2000s

I ADORE the new design for Hawk Moth you made! I love butterflies/moths so i really dig the aesthetic, but beside that, everything is just gorgeous. The colors are also very beautiful, i can totally imagine the Moth Kwami being a bluish-teal instead of lavender. I feel like the new outfit also fits Gabriel’s personality more since he is a fashion designer so I think he’d totally wear something flashy and over the top. Overall just a fantastic redesign, his civilian form as well.

Can you do Alya next? It really baffled me when I found out she was supposed to be black- I mean, I thought she was from India or something. It has been kinda bugging me eversince- her sister's design is really cool though! And they have shown to be able to design some really cool black characters in a variety of colours and looks (like the robot girl from the NY special) that's why it baffles me so much how they did Alya. I also really dislike her new hero outfit- that purple is just not it..idk it bothers me

It *always* irritated me that Gabe is supposed to be a fashion designer but his look is so...BASIC! This man should have so much drip that he’s raising sea levels, but you have managed to consistently remain the only Art channel doing these redraws that ACTUALLY fixes the characters to what they’re supposed to look like (according to the story) and not just completely rewriting the look into something that only looks like the original because the video says that’s who they are. Also, I’m hoping that you’ll be able to fix Sabrina, Max, and Marc-ESPECIALLY their hero outfits, which are just tragic.

My plainass mind was debating with you shitting on Gabriel's civilian design, like it was like "hey it's not that bad, it just looks like those common businessman". But then sense knocked on my brain and I realized that "holy shit, it really is shit!" I agree red pants are horrible in a fashion sense and only a few people will be able to pull it off and in Gabriel's personality, it's definitely not for him lol. His new civilian clothes give him that vibe of a fashion designer with his own trademark fashion and is proud of his brand. Also, I love love love love love love love your villain design oh my Gosh, the details gives me this pleasure in seeing something so detail-oriented, because I'm still studying how to make good oc outfits that have sense and give characters personality and your vids are one of those I use as reference (or study vids). We always know that villains were always given the ✨sass✨, the ✨glam✨ and the best outfits in the series. So you just gave justice to Hawkmoth. If his design is like that or at least similar to what you did, I would have rooted for him like some thirsty fangirl for bad guys-- All in all, this designs are SO AMAZING! 💖

God I LOVE WHEN DESIGNS ARE MONSTERY/ANIMALY It’s my favourite thing and your hawkmoth redesign looks BEAUTIFUL I was floored when the sketch first came up cause GOD DAMN WHO IS THIS ICON?! I really liked how Mayuras skin changed and she looked more evil because of it so I love how you did the same with hawkmoth. Maybe all people who use the miraculous for evil look less humanoid cause they corrupt it or something? Seem plausible to me. If that’s who’s akumatising people the akumas are going to be looking AMAZING. Looks for everyone I love how subtle Gabriel looks in comparison, makes him seem like he’s hiding something. Maybe when Emilie was still around he made more extravagant looks like that cause it’s said in the show ever since he became more of a recluse his designs have become shittier. Gabriel and Emilie pulling up to a fashion show in looks like that would be so cool! I can kind of see younger Gabriel with hair like that cause it reminds me of adriens in his chat noir form. Love the redesign and name change. Turned out amazing!

Just when I thought the civilian design was really cool…you come out here with the AMAZING supervillain design and I can’t even- Everything from the color scheme to the big huge cape is perfect-so much so I wish the design was some sort of mystical species of its own….in other words, amazing job!!

Normally I'd say that it'd made sense for the animators to not go with a complicated design like with your idea because that looks like a pain to animate- but considering the current design of Reina Rogue I feel like it could be done. Unfortunately my knowledge of 3d animation is severely lacking- but if they could animate reina rogue in her new ghost design then this shouldn't be too much of a problem. Your design is beautiful by the way! It always irked me that the costumes for the villains and heroes were sooooo.... basic. As in they didn't represent their users personality and life. As they had explained it.

When i saw the notification for this i pogged so hard, and now after watching it was worth it. HOLY. SHIT. DUDE! Man went from generic yee yee a$$ weirdo to an actual great villain and MY GOD IM PISSED ITS NOT REAL. Like ngl man, his civilian outfit was great, yet the villain one goes all out. And it works perfectly since after all, miraculous users can create their outfits whatev they like, so its criminal they didnt make him cooler, ESPECIALLY SINCE HES A FASHION DESIGNER Also he looks like the kind of villain who would have a way better arc than he actually does now. Like the dude is just a shitty person overall, saying hes gonna stop but he keeps doing it. Absolutely gorgeous work, defo worth the wait for a new video :D 💕

Holly fuck he’s so pretty. Like, I said it before and I’ll say it again: we’re all simping hard. As for his character (as it pertains to his designs)... eh, I kind of can justify most of his designs being kind of simple. The Agreste brand can just be more focused of elegant, minimalist clothing (which wouldn’t be that rare). Still, they basic. ... BUT THEY COULD HAVE WORKED WITH THAT!!!!! Like, ONE! A single comment in-show, about how Gabriel’s has lost his inspiration after his wife’s supposed death! It would make sense! (And it would still be... really basic. But it would make sense.) But nooooo, somehow Gabriel Agreste is still the best designer even in spite of his basic ass designs. Ugh!
