It‘s a shame that his story got cut short because of Disney, and the way they ended his story makes me so angry and sad, and also why did they get rid of his beard, he could have looked so cool with a long gray shaggy beard. (More of that grandpa vibe/style).

✒️🏚️ Absolutist to his tar-filled core. Belos/Philp read very Messiah-complex with his insistence of being the Titan's/God's chosen prophet, the one true shepherd of "unity". He and Caleb gave to me a twisted reverseal of Cain and Abel, the younger slaying the elder for daring to stray/displace for "otherworldly delights". I would have loved to have seen Belos call out to Hunter specifically when frustrated/enraged but throwing out different names from his prior grimwalkers as if confused or conflicted with his concept of time and reality before having to ground himself with the word "Caleb" as he's the proverbial root, the original sin and his clones are reflections of the Sins of the Father. I really like your interpretation of his curse mark all corrupting his mortal form, it gives Wilbur Whateley energy from H.P. Lovecraft's work "The Dunwich Horror". I'd like to think since he's prolonged his humanity by consuming palisman/palistrom sap he's been slowly overtime internally petrifying like ancient wood, literally becoming in his own delusion a "cross bearer". The parallels imagery to stars between him and Luz is so good and it makes his partnership with the Collector all the more cosmic in their grand game of controled chaos. I had thought Belos's true goal was to bridge the demon and human realms together in a sort of dimentional syncretism and having the portal door as a sort of stargate. I can imagine Luz when posessed in the human realm having to fight internally with her desire to return to the demon realm for Eda, King, and the second world she's come to think of as home and coming to terms with appreciating her own, her family, and working towards being herself but having Belos be that napping whisper that that's not what she truly wants and wouldn't it be so much better if she didn't have to chose, that doesn't the world deserve a little magic... I appreciate the compliment and the recommendation for TOH, your designs and world building really inspire. Looking forward to the Collector's reveal and Tecna. Best wishes!

I love the new stuff you give to his character, I really like the idea of him just completely losing it and running on autopilot And since you said you’re looking for ideas, I think since in this AU Hunter would be there when Luz confronts Belos we would see more of Belos treating Hunter as just an object, in hollow mind it’s clear that he doesn’t see hunter as a person but as a possession with how he says “of all the grimwslkers you looked the most like him” and “thanks to you I’ll have to make a new one” so I feel like with Hunter being mind controlled Belos would just lose all subtlety with that because now he doesn’t have to pretend for Hunter to do what he wants. I think it would also add to his delusion of how he thinks he’s a hero but thinks of Hunter as just a thing It would also give Luz more insight into just how bad of a person Belos is But that’s just my idea, you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to, I just thought I’d share :)

Random thing to say but I would recommend Tim burton live action reimagined “sleepy hollow” . One of the only good live remakes

I have been WAITING for this episode! Because I HATE the last few seconds of belos death! They have him get CERVED STOMPED! NO! I would have loved if it was just this quiet scene with the rain sounds, and we’d watch him just melts away as luz watches him die!

I love your take on Belos’ general outfit. I’d imagine as a puritan, he rationalized all 21st attire as a side effect of humanity being ‘corrupted’ by the demon realm, and that after the day of unity, everyone would start wearing ‘normal’ clothes like him: the perfect, god fearing man. I’d imagine he’d make some remark to Luz that she is neither god fearing, or a man. One thing I wish they leaned into more with Belos is the witch hunter motivation. What we got was good, but it would have been cool to see him as this Frollo-esque self-righteous preacher. I also think the show really didn’t show us enough of him being this glory hound, and we only got one mention of it from him wanting to be seen as a general

Something I really like about belos that we kinda got hints at is that belos by his nature is a unreliable narrator He genuinely believes what he does as justice, that he's a saviour which really feeds into thr fact that he made himself an emperor who can hear the titan, a god figure. Like when he said how the other grimwalkers, the other .."hunters" betrayed him..i am 100% convinced his definition of "betrayal" is so backwards. (Or he's just THAT much of an obvious villain) i always imagine some simply did a bad job, gave too much info without bad intentions or dared to live a life outside of being the golden guard. He considers Luz "brainwashed" so i don't put it against him It's funny too cuz id hugely disagree with the fact that he's a calculated type.. like he TRIES to be but it comes of the same as a rich person acting like tony stark WHICH ISN'T BAD, it's like his own personality is a delusion.

I never understood why the collector was added AFTER it was announced the show would be cancelled early. Took so much away from Belos

I love how his skeletal teeth make it look like a manic grin. Like, he really is insane and delusional, but he hides it with the facade of calm and collected. Like the beast is his true inner self seeping through the cracks. Reminds me of the queen from Snow White, the old woman they transform into is symbolism for how their inside now reflects their appearance. I might be looking too deep into it, but I like the concept of inner demons being turned real.

Personally, belos isn't that great of a main villain, but he has the potential to be a better catalyst to a greater villain similar to the collector like something belos did made the greater angry and the greater villan let put anger towards the boiling ilses

if the ghosts would been there from the start like hunter walks in to see belos smashing up the room hunter asks what wrong and belos excuses it with "dealing with ghost of the past" and as they leave you see pale humanish shadow or something like that and/or belos slips up and calls hunter caleb before a half lying and telling hunters it was his fathers name and " at times you remind me him of so much"

I hate how the Wittebane-Evelyn lore was glossed over in season 3, especially since it was the core of everything that led up to what happened on the Boiling Isles. Honestly, I believe the crew should’ve never introduced the Collector so Belos and his past could’ve gotten heavy focus in the final season.

Okay so to people who are confused why Bastion specifically X Men 97 is a way better Belos than Belos himself I will explain more. We never had a big motivation on why Belos wants to destroy magic and witches. Maybe it was his time period or traditon but we never had moments on why he does it pesonally. Now I know Belos not needing an internal personal motivation sounds weird but we only see that its based on traditions and education. I wished we had moments where he got it from Caleb or other people. Because even Judge (not Claude sorry) Frollo had a personal motivation even though its twisted. Also was I the only one who felt Belos' VA is good but not great. Matthew Rhys isn't a bad va he did a good job playing Belos but I felt Luz's VA, King's VA, and Eda's VA outshined him. Wendie did well as the sassy yet caring mentor Eda was like, Alex Hirsch was so phenomenal as King, and Sarah who was an unknown voice actor did well as Luz she became popular. The only time he did well was voicing Belos' final moments with emotional hypocritcal rage. But that was it. Bastion (X men 97 version) was cool. Like he had that aura of that smug know it all but unlike Belos he had charisma. Sure he appeared in less episodes but he was entertaining. Like really enterataining especially when he clapped back at Dr. Doom of all people. You go Bastion. It also helps that Bastion is kind of tragic even though he did something horrible to his mother. Despite his cold actions he genuinely believes he is saving humanity from mutantkind. But he doesn't like humanity too. The thing is that Bastion was never given a chance to be his own person. He was just a young boy who was given an unknown condition. He was a literal iteration and evolution of all sentinels, Nimrod and Master Mold. He is literally the reincarantion of Nimrod and he was never given a chance to understand mutants. His mom who despises mutants unintentionally awaken his beliefs that mutants are a threat. So he became Bastion and planned to destroy it because he thought his mom was right. Also Theo James voiced Bastion and I love his voice it gives me chills on how calm yet condescending it is. It also helps that unlike most X Men Animated villains who were comical and cheesy Bastion was not. He was a cold and heartless man who would do anything to hurt people. But unlike Belos he had some human qualities that wasn't redeemable yet deep. While he turned his mothers into one of his minions, he thought it would give her immortality. But when Magento used his powers to destroy his minions Bastion surprisingky mourns the loss of his mom. Also he literally said he thought his mom was protecting him from mutantkind. Unaware her beliefs were pathetic and misguided. Also their last words..which one was more impactful to you? Belos: "We're human. We're better than this!" Bastion: "Humanity is going extinct." Jean Grey: "No. They're having babies, and more and more of them like us." Bastion "Well, there’s just one pickle, dear. Humanity would rather PERISH than have kids like us!" I know its unfair because X Men 97 had a few episodes but less is more. Bastion was a better Belos than Belos in my opinion.

I don't know what I can say about Belos, because I haven't watched Owl House and I don't think I'll be watching it any time soon, so.... When his blue eye lights up, he reminds me of Sans. And as always, a wonderful redesign.

The Owl House was never going to go full into the Puritan Witch Hunter stuff and only elude to it, because I doubt they'd be allowed to full on discuss religion in a Disney show. They weren't going to go all Hunchback on Notre Dame on us. Plus the more you go into Belos and the more you imagine someone trying to reason with him, like "how can you still see the Demon Realm as evil after spending centuries as their leader and trying to look appealing to them?", which feels like any "defense" he'd have is just him plugging his ears, which IMO is lame. My issue with Belos is the fact that seemingly, with just himself, one Grimwalker at a time it seems, and smoke and mirrors, he essentially made an entire religion out of scratch. I feel like the more followers you have the harder it'd be to keep that ruse going. Also, if witches "supposedly" have a way to live MUCH longer than humans (only alluded to in-series by Bump making a joke) then wouldn't there be plenty of witches/demons from before Belos' reign as emperor. Slight mini-gripe that I think could just be fun. But apparently the Boiling Isles is just the size of a state like Vermont iirc, and Emperors are in charge of Empires, which are larger than Kingdoms. I feel like the Boiling Isles should be bigger for that title to make sense.

Belos kinda reminds me of the book called The Crucible where puritans would use religion to accuse others of being “witches” out of vengeance during the Salem witch trials, since well he is from the 1600s and puritans were super religious on steroids, but anyway love this design and the curse marking! :D

When I got to your AU rambling about how Belos started to show he's losing his sanity, still aware of the timeline and kept his beliefs, tries to "save Luz/Caleb" from the witches and demons, and mention again how Luz is the one who gets possessed. I was like," Ohhh😮 that's sounds so good. So better." 3. Keep up the work, give yourself a break one in a while, and can't wait for the Collector.

Ahhh! I love that you made his curse way worse looking, really nice! I also enjoyed Belos as a villain in season one and three, kinda a shame most of his backstory stuff got sidelined in season 2. I like the idea that he gets more monstrous as the seasons progress and he loses control. Makes me think of Ratigan in the finale of the Great Mouse Detective, how he also just lost it and became more animalistic as apposed to his more put together self in the early parts of the film. Can’t wait to see what you do with the collector! ❤

Tbh so far he's still my favorite out of the entire show, and I will agree, it would have been much cooler if we had time to see him slowly start losing it and go cray cray, like a proper villain driven by religious intent, like that was such a cool thing to do man I thought he was well designed before, but you absolutely made him even better, he definitely takes his "general" role seriously, plus the curse looks way cooler, and much more curse like lol Hhh, all of your redesigns look so good, even if some are just some minor switching things around, it's a massive difference

I understand how you feel about Belos and his delusions. I do agree he should've had crazy moments when he breaks down. I do agree some scenes made him too in control and I understand your motive. But the point of Belos is that he is not a good person. Do I wished we could have had a motive. Of course. But he's pure evil. He wasn't supposed to be an understandable person. He is supposed to be like Claude Frollo from Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Bastion from Marvel's X Men, or The Director from Netflix and Bluesky's Nimona. All of them try to justfy their actions for the greator good but in the end are horrible people hurting people who are different and are harmless. But yes I can understand your frustrations on Belos. I wished we had more on Belos's infortmation and other things. I feel I can excuse Belos' plans of returning to Earth because he was a misguided person who took things his way. He continued to hurt witches but he didn't know civilization continued to evolve and he never learned. He was stuck as his traditonal belief as a witch hunter and never learned. Humans evolved and advanced but he was stuck in his time period unable to appreciate change. But I do agree maybe part of me wished we seen more of Belos information and how he was. We also never saw his relationship with Caleb beyond screenshots or info of Dana's live stream. And yes while I'm glad Belos was a pure evil villain maybe I wished we had more times outside of being Belos. I love it when villains had breaks or fun moments outside of being villains. Like Yohsikage Kira from JJBA being an average citizrn outside of being a hidden monster in Morio. Or Makima from CSM who loves movies. Or Palpatine from Star Wars being into operas. Maybe we could've had those moments where he was Philip. A person who enjoyed tradition which makes him horrifying because he was a human lile us. But he is not a good person he is a vile monster that must be stopped. I also do feel we should've had more of his personality more. Outside of Season 1 finale were Belos was engaging part of me wished we had more attitude. Belos should've had more personality beyond being a cult like tyrant. Maybe he could've had more fun moments but he's just there. I guess that's why I love eccentric or villains being civil because at least that gives them more points. I feel Bastion from X Men 97 specifically was a better Belos because he was entertaining because he had the sly and smug demeanor besides being calm. He had an understandable motivation because he was never allowed to understand mutants and became a monster. And Bastion even admitted had his mother let Xavier help him he could've been an X men. Also he's a momma's boy who genuinely loved his mom and thought she helped him from mutantkind. So overall unlike Belos who was obssessed with destroying witchkind and magic Bastion feared mutants because he was never given a chance to understand their plight. I wished we had more of Belos' thoughts on Caleb but sadly we never had his personal feelings. Overall Belos is a fun villain that perfectly is the opposite of what The Owl Hoyse represents. Unlike Luz who accepted and embrace being herself. Belos disregarded it all and despised the beauty of the Boiling Isles. But I do wished he could've made an amazing villain if the show explored more about him besides Amity and Luz. I do not despise Lumity but I do feel they were annoying constantly with Amity wondering where Luz is. We ge it Amity you're concerned for Luz but what about your own development? Sigh I wished we had more about Belos and how we was as Philip. But oh well that's just wishful thinking but anyways thanks for the redesign. Very good. Actually looks like a well known history.

Belos is an example of both a complex villain and a pure evil villain. Let me explain While yes he wasn’t born as evil and was taught to hate witches due to being born in the 1600s during the Salem witch trials. His brother (Caleb) was able to get away from his hatred and bigotry compare to Belos. But he’s still a very cruel, manipulative piece of shit. Also as a Christian I wish they could’ve used more of Belos religious side, mostly showing the hycoperisy. Like acting all righteous yet about to kill thousands of people. That’s all I have
