Was doing this very matchup a week or so ago with a buddy of mine in his M2K-5F and holy fuck that thing is scary as fuck to fight. If I wasn't taking an F-15 or Gripen I was pretty much at a given disadvantage. I can't extend at all since Magic-2 + HMD just means I die, and it's hard to AOA fight a Mirage. I could win fights against him in Su-27, but it required me going into manual controls the whole fight, keeping my speed, and precisely choosing when to dump it all and slam my nose onto him for an R-73. If I fuck it up, I die. if I take too long to decide when to use it, he gets in Magic-2 WEZ, and I likely die.

You can outrate the mirage. But the time required to drain its enery down in rate is somewhere between long and forever😂😂

Mirage was never fool proof tho, the limited weapon load requires wise planning and discipline, the 2000-5F has a better radar and way more countermeasures, both are really fun to use and I always loved them!

Tbh your right. The only time the mirage was really fool proof, was when they first added it. The only top tier bird you faced was the mig-21bis.

The SU-27’s flight model in War Thunder is very disappointing to me. I fly it the most on DCS and it performs very well. The flanker in WT feels like a brick even with dampening off and does not perform as well at low speeds in comparison to DCS. Perhaps my friend and I should upload a flight model comparison video between the two games

The flight model is butchered, but since its a russian vehicle no one really cares. I wonder how it would look like if the f-16 behaved as bad as the flanker.

Sur WT il devient très bon qu'avec moins de 12 min de fuel, j'ai remarqué ça par hasard en simu face à un F16C qui avait son nez sur mon cul mais a clairement était surpris quand d'un coup j'ai repris l'avantage à force de perdre en carburant... Avec le max de fuel il est beaucoup moins dangereux. Même si tous les avions sont sensibles à ça aucun ne devient aussi bon que le SU27 (à part le F15) quand il arrive à 10 min de fuel. Le F15 c'est la même chose, au merge il est numéro 1 dans WT quand il a 10 min de fuel. 😂

@@specc_s1452he just tried to play it like if WT was DCS, in WT it is as brain dead plane as Gripen. The only difference is that the Gripen outrates everything because it has 0 drag in the game and doesn’t lose any speed so you just pull and you win 2C fight while M2K has no stall speed at all and can pull 18deg/s with 30 deg of AoA at 150km/h so you just pull and win 1C fight

I think you need to fight using the Damping mode, so that you don't bleed so much energy. Mirage bleeds a lot of energy but you bleed it even faster with manual mode. I use damping mode and I usually always try to retain my energy as much as possible and with it I win most of my fights against flankers.

The low speed performance and AoA pull on the mirage is superior. Merging at 900-1000kph also gives better early rate performance. Also you can remove that NVD action bar in the options btw. Gives you a but letter clutter

As a sim player in both the flanker and the 2k, its a matter of skill 😐😐😐 rate fighting applies to any at all aircraft its just what best suits your aircraft. All in all you’ve brought great shame to mirage 2k fighter all around

Nice one ! slow flight , high AoA, HMS offboresight missiles .... this is why we wanted new gen jets in game😊, isn't true ? Please try to do some merges at min. 5km alt. and use some maps with high mountains peaks. The low alt + flat terrain is puting at advantage the plane that can rate fight better (when is just 1vs1) Thanks for your work and keep it going !

in air rb, the m2k wins almost every time. The fact that it can keep up with the gripen is enough proof that it can beat the flanker. SU-27 is just too heavy to keep up with them after a longer sustained dogfight it would just fall out of the sky while the mirage would just dunk on it

Idk if gs ever said u cant, but in war thunder the flanker is a pretty mid rate fighter, most of the US jets will outrate it in a neutral scenario

yea lol mirage outrates the flanker easily , its not exactly outrating the flanker but in a 2 circle fight its engines are powerful enough that it just keeps cutting into your turn so it will stay on your tail. (u can do this to shit on any mig29 and su27 in game with the mirage). rip russian tt none of their fighters are even on the top 5 list of best dogfighters. after fox 3 update , with just mig29smt with r77 yea i think they will get shit on by everything else in the game (gripen/f16/f15/mirage all with fox3s) as the r27er advantage wont be as huge.
