I absolutely adore the part from 1:43-2:01. Maybe my favorite part in the entire musical. It’s just so perfect because it feels like a false sense of security. A calm before the storm, and it feels the most reminiscent of old Tally Hall pieces. Immediately after this part, the distorted piano comes back and the instrumental afterwards feels like a hurricane (or, maybe more fittingly, a gruesome murder). Either way, I have no bearing of music theory, but it FEELS like storytelling through music. This entire album is full of similar parts, but this little bit is probably my favorite (for now, ask me in a week and I’ll probably have something new to gush about)

HOLY SHIT IT ALL MAKES SENSE, MIRACLE MUSICAL YOU GENIUSES- The end of the song “I was in the forest looking to find the trees, but none were there.” reveals that THE SINGER IS THE ONE THAT “FOUND A GIRL,” THE GIRL WHO FOUND THE ERLKING. The Erlking is a European folklore tale, an elf that kills those who linger in the forest for too long. The next 2 songs in the album are Space Station Level 7 AND THE MIND ELECTRIC. I just put together that the story revolves around a guy and a girl, the girl is killed in an unexplainable/supernatural way (the man referencing The Erlking as a way to describe what happened), the guy is then accused of murdering the girl, as nobody would actually believe or accept the truth of what really happened, so he pleads insanity. This then leads into the story of The Mind Electric and AHHH I FUCKING LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!

I think a man and his sister were “looking to see the trees but none were there” but then the man’s sister found an erlking (dunno what that means don’t hurt me) which may be better than what the man was looking for. Then, they found a “fountain of infinite mirror”, more than likely something that relfects or turns back time or something. But the fountain needed a sacrifice to work. The man and his sister do not know who to sacrifice, so they fight. The sister lives. She later realizes that the forest (and the world along with it) isn’t real and only a painting. IDK.

The meaning is in the entire album. So it’s about a guy who gets married to a girl and then takes a walk in a forest with her but she gets murdered and the man gets accused of it when he didn’t do it so in court he says that he’s insane so he gets sent to a mental hospital where they use electric shock therapy which makes him actually insane but then he escapes and jumps off a cliff to be with his wife in heaven

Basically the song is apart of the overarching story of the album. A man and his wife go into a forest for sightseeing but find the urlking which in this case is a killer as the wife gets murdered and the man gets blamed for it leading into mind electric.
