In Conversation with James Stewart
Event at The Rye Arts Festival
Recorded for the Rye Arts Festival at the Mermaid Inn, Rye, by Andy Bantock
James and I talked about my young life in Dublin and Cork, Ireland. My Irish heritage means there has been a constant thread of writing and storytelling running through my life. A leap of faith in 1976 took me to the UK. My careers in Hospitality and later Health and Wellbeing, working long hours eventually cost me my health. Life no longer worked for me. I described myself as a plant in a window while the world carried on moving around me. Taking another leap of faith, my husband and I, headed to the mountains of south-west Turkey. Learning a new language, soaking up Asian culture and embracing a healthier simpler way of living was my turnaround and inspiration to reignite my passion for writing and storytelling. Now signed to The Publishing Circle with Linda Stirling @thepublishingcircle.com my novel, Second Chances was released this year.
A truly memorable event with a special and engaging audience. Huge thanks to the organisers and team at Rye Arts Festival and of course James Stewart founder of @Ryecast and Reporter with @RyeNews
