This is one of my favorite fights in the entire series because it shows off why Deku is one of my favorite shonen protagonists of all time. So many shonen heroes are the impulsive, stupid types (largely because of Dragonball's influence on the genre.) And that's entertaining, Luffy is one of the best characters ever written. But having a shonen protag who is smart enough to predict his opponents movements is a fresh, exciting change for the genre

Spoiler alert! I could actually see Mirio as a hero. Horikoshi likes to have his characters represent a certain time period or character trope in manga or comics. This can be seen in how Overhaul is the classic Manga Villain, how All Might is basically the Golden Age of superhero comics and how Deku is the basic anime/manga protagonist. In comics, there are superheroes that are “self-made” so to speak. These superheroes have no superpowers and instead rely on technology, like Batman or Iron Man. Mirio could possibly join with a support company or invent his own tech and basically be the “self-made” hero in My Hero Academia. This would go well with how much training Mirio has already put in, as a recurring aspect of these characters is how much time they’ve put into being a hero. This would also keep the emotional impact of Mirio losing his quirk and still make Nighteye’s prediction true.
