Really helpful man! Thanks for sharing this.. Was planning on going thru the zagari pass on a 4x4 rental with 2 toddlers,in mid September, but I guess this would be too risky.. Better to go thru mestia I suppose

Hello, I'm planning to drive through this pass on 23 April , but with a rental 2wd car. I have a lot of experience driving in mountains but should i take the mestia road instead? What's your opinion?

Hi! It is not allowed to drive to Ushguli with 2WD rental car. I think neither thru Mestia. I don't think any rental company will allow you this.
