In 1987, sixty kilometers to the east of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the city of Slavutich appeared among the forest - which became the new satellite city of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and sheltered many workers of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Slavutich consists of 13 modern quarters and a central city square, and it is also the last city built in the USSR.
From the first days of Slavutich's existence, discussions about the necessity of its existence and about how and with what the city will live after the final closure of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant have not ceased. In this episode of our series about Chernobyl, we will talk on this topic with the chief architect of Slavutich, Dmitry Baglaev, and also see what the city of Slavutich is like today.
