Thank you for the great video! Mirror Therapy can also be useful for stroke survivors to get back the use of their affected hands and fingers. For example; after I had a stroke my baby finger curled up and doesn't want to straighten. After watching your video I plan to build a mirror box to get back as much functionality as I can before exploring the surgical alternative.

I found this phenomenon so interesting and confusing at the same time, that I chose to write my thesis on this. There's soooo many things we still don't know about phantom pain, and sadly there isn't one treatment that works for anybody. Sometimes mirror box therapy makes the pain worse. But from all of the treatments, I find this one the most interesting, so it was great to see this video pop up in my subscription box. :)

+Kispingvin Ooh, I hadn't heard that it had made anyone's pain worse. Yeah, it's really interesting (and was pretty fun to build, too!). Glad you enjoyed it! You could probably teach me a lot about it, too.

the way my dad describes it, its fucking horrible constantly has really really bad pins and needles through out his missing leg and in his foot it feels like if you were to pinch it as hard as possible and the feeling you get right after is what its like all the time,

This is fascinating. Like the kind of mix of optical illusion and tricking the brain in an even deeper way. Astounding how the mind works.

+Mayank Rangari Definitely! His Musk series is entirely awesome, but I think I'm partial to the Fermi Paradox post. How about you?

I absolutely love the Musk series as well, especially the last post, i like the way he uses humour in posts like "the great perils of social interaction", " 10 Types of Odd Friendships You’re Probably Part Of" etc. His travel posts are insightful as well, he has a peculiar eye for peculiar things. Haven't read the Fermi Paradox post so i can't comment on that. Anyway, Where are you from and what are you Studying? :D

What if people could use the energy of the phantom hand and pick things up even if there is no hand there... Its hard to explain

I understand exactly what your saying I’ve always wondered that to, kinda like telekinesis like your picking up something with your hand that isn’t there

Would this help a stroke victim ? Where the hand still has some feeling but lost ability to move fingers? The arm can also move but fingers just can’t move at all. Would a mirror box help?

I wonder if this will be useful for prosthetic limbs that are contorlled by the neurons or the nerves. You know, to synchronise or something.

Thanks for sharing this helpful information - in future please consider a quieter musical accompaniment that doesn't compete with your narrative so much. Otherwise, very helpful.

Why is it that you use the endings from other channels instead of your own? Is it a sign of respect? Have you considered making your own?
