Great video. I hadnt ever noticed before that The Mirror has a loose footed main.

Nice work Kevin restoring the Mirror, I have 2 in restoration at the moment, I cant believe you can buy these little boats so cheaply and put a few (read a lot) of hours in and have a great little dinghy, alas the winter has caught up to me down here in Melbourne so wont be much sailing until spring, Nice to see you daughter out sailing, there is no better activity in the world to teach kids that spending time outdoors is better than inside looking at a computer or tablet

Awsome to see another little wooden sailing boat out there, i sail on Botany bay, would probably be good for your boat too. What did you waterproof your tarp with?

Hi Kevin, Could you tell me the size of the deck hatch you put in, and is it in a 'strategic' location structurally? Did you fit any other hatches? sizes? thanks

+Ian Rids Hi Ian,I fitted initially a small 6inch hatch but then enlarged it to a 1 foot model placed towards the starboard side (to avoid damaging the structural longitudinal beam). I stow large items up here such as sleeping bags so the big hatch is good. However, strictly this is against the Mirror Class rules but I'm a cruiser not a racer. cheers, Kevin

Hi Kevin, thanks for that info. Large hatch sounds great. I wondered if a large hatch may weaken the deck or make it flex alarmingly but its obviously working. I will fit a 6" first (for inspection) then go larger as you have done. Easier to make a small hole larger than the other way round! lol. thanks again
