‘08 Titanium owner here. I would have likely passed on this one-too many paint defects, e.g., mirrors, front end that really needs a great color match and skill with a gun. Did buy a Argento Ferrari with front end road rash; took two tries and great commitment from the shop to get it just right…

Hi Steve, I am looking for a AM Rapide, and because it is having the same V12 as your DB9, I follow a lot of your videos. My question is out of context with this video but it is related to the welknown problem of ´leaking dampers’. Do you have a video on this topic ? I am interested to understand the reason of the leak, the way to observe / diagnose it, and the easiness of replacing them ( front and rear). Tell me if I have to contact you in a different way. Thank you again for all these extra-helpful videos.

Hi Steve , I interesting different video from you. All mirror mounts in the UK flake off their paint due to oxidation for some reason, so common in fact Bamford Rose has exchange power coated mirror mounts. Both my Aston DB9’s suffered this issue. My assumption is the Aston you are videoing has painted the RH mirror mount but during that process they have dropped it breaking off the tip 😂

Hope you find some of these short style videos interesting. The UK environment is so hard on corrosion issues. Thanks for sharing!

@@Aston1936 thanks Steve, our VW Golf was driven all winter and was so bad underneath due to rust we had to sell it 😳

Hi Steve, the passenger side (driver’s side in UK) mirror looks exactly like the ones on my 05 DB9. The part at the top of the aluminium plate is not broken off, it is the shape of the plate and how it locks into the rubber seal surround. The mirror on the driver’s side is different, but if you say it matches your car then it would hint that there was a change in 2005. My car is a slightly later build number than yours, so maybe this car has required the mirror to be changed and a later item was fitted. Either way, it looks odd. Hope that helps.

Interesting - this is what I love about this idea. Learning more about the little details. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Steve, very good observation, the difference needs further investigation, I would love to see all the auction pictures… It is an example that seems to have had a relatively difficult life, I’d look for other signs of wear to substantiate the milage(Interior, Tires, Rotors…). There are many scratches visible under the front bumper, more on the passenger side, The bonnet gaps seem to be not equal… Sometimes milage can be inaccurate… Also front grille is not normal to my eyes… might be mistaken… Certainly no where near as loved as yours… this video is a fun idea! Thanks.

Hi James. Yes - this car has not been well kept. I only focused on the mirrors, but you are right to notice that just about every aspect of this car has issues. I'll probably be making a few more short videos off this car. The front bumper is certainly a mess. Thanks for sharing!

Although this 2005 DB9 may go cheap, I’d still opt for a later model year like 2009 or newer. They have more power, have the upgraded interior and the issues with the earlier models have all been taken care of. I also believe the originally used suspension was replaced by Bilstein which would give a better ride.
@Aston193610 ай бұрын
The later cars are certainly more evolved, but will come at a different price point too. The earliest cars will be tempting to many based on their budgets, so they'll find homes. Thanks for sharing.

I think of the 04-08 DB9 as the Aston analogue to the Series 1 E type. Purest design, and someday might be more valuable for some of the same reasons. The earlier seats although arguably more plain looking, are extremely comfortable and I have heard some say the 09- up seats do not compare. Its only a 20 HP difference and you can uprate the early cars with Bilsteins when the OEM shocks wear out.
@marcdeschryver768710 ай бұрын
@@danielarsenault8930 I can’t compare the seats of the early models but I do know the seats in my DB9 from 2009 were Ok’ish but, although looking more or less identical to those on my DBS from 2011, the ones in the DBS are so much better and comfortable.

@@Aston1936 You are right of course…if you have a limited amount to spend, an older model is the obvious choice and they have the same gorgeous look of course.

I believe the right hand side mirror is from a 2007 Model
@Aston193610 ай бұрын
Interesting. Perhaps they needed a replacement mirror (damage?) and sourced a later model replacement. Seems to be a gasket around the mirror base. Thanks for sharing!

Do you have a trick to reset power folding when locking as I believe it’s only Aston that can perform reset?
@Aston193610 ай бұрын
No trick I am aware of. Maybe there is a magic button combination, but my car doesn't have power fold mirrors so I'm not up on all the tricks. I do know it can be done with AMDS. I'm not sure if a ThinkDiag can do it. Thanks for watching!

My 2004 has the same thing at the top corner of the passenger door mirror. No idea why they have this difference though. Mine isn't broken.
@Aston193610 ай бұрын
That's interesting to hear. It almost looks like it has a gasket around the right side mirror, and not on the left side. Thanks for sharing!
