I started to play this game yesterday and i think its one of the most beautiful game ever made , i couldn't play it i was just staring on the view and what a beautiful view and city they made with realistic detail especially with hyper setting on 1080p , the view and the beautiful sound brought tears to my eyes i mean laterally may be because of nostalgia of the first beautiful game since 8 years . i am glade i am still alive to play this game .

I know this comment is 4 years old but same. i literally couldnt help but stop and admire the world of this game. and that is VERY RARE for me to do so. Having no guns and parkour was also a nice addition to the game. Because of this game, I actually grew inspired by the minimalist design of the world and fashion style of the game. Big shame many games don't have the same visual appeal like Mirror's Edge Catalyst.

Its been uhhh 6 years now and I still absolutely adore this game. Nothing else even in 2021 can compare to the feeling of space and being completely tiny versus everything else around you. Graphics were definitely on point and was helped by the simplistically beautiful styling that just... works. I mean it when I say I cant compare the feeling this game gives. Its not the actual story, (the story was actually rather lame but still fluid) and its not even the running and cool animations with the parkour. Its legitimately just the environment that makes you feel a sense of uselessness not in a mental way but rather that your innate lack of size is so vast between everything else that you are in this mindset of "how can I even?". The even better bits are the small areas. Places that people would overlook in a heartbeat in any other game but contributes so much here. Having the sun always come in certain panels on the side wall or how the coffee table is slightly angled from the couch inside a house of a person that's not even home. Beautiful game and its going to be a long god damn time until I can find something to compare to the feeling this game influenced on me.

Dear DICE/EA. I understand that you likely spent a lot of of time creating it but please fix the rolling animation in ME2. In parkour, the game's core feature, you preform a roll diagonally over your shoulder to your opposite hip. The first game's roll looked much better and more realistic. Can we have a discussion about Faith's new voice actor in Mirror's Edge? It was really the only thing that bothered me about the new trailer. I feel the problem isn't so much with the actor herself, because changing voice actors is fine in my opinion. Perhaps the previous actor couldn't deliver the lines with enough emotion for the new script, and this was a better fit, but she doesn't deliver the lines as Faith should in my opinion. It changes her character. Faith was always confident in what she said and did, and was always straight to the point. However this new actor and script seems to make Faith stray away from that. Listen to the next few lines from the new trailer: (3:22) "Sorry, I'm checking it out" (3:32) "There's a whole different set of labs here. This isn't agricultural research. What are they up to?" And also that ridiculously heavy breathing near the end. (3:58) While these emotions conveyed by these lines are believable and reasonable for the situation, they'd have been delivered much differently by Faith's old voice actor. Especially the "Sorry" in the first line. The new VA delivers it with an uncertain tone, where as the old VA would have delivered it with more dominance and finality. Faith is no longer the same character she used to be. *EDIT: I'm dumb.*

Yeah Right, Like I thought there was going to be a lot more about the crew than there was. It tried to distance itself from ME 1 with the whole Oh not going to actually tell you what the runners do. I liked that in ME 1, you were totally distracted from your mundane job. Whilst no, the story isn't The Last of Us brilliant, it's still a great game.

This game's open world sucked and the story had alot of plot holes. We don't even get to know more about Dogen or meet Celeste (we keep hearing about her through audio tapes). There was no other interaction with Icarus after act 2,Nomad was almost absent throughout the whole story and Noah dies so early.

I don't understand some of the complaining here. The voice actor - while new - sounds just fine to me. She sounds a bit younger, less experienced. Which is GOOD for a prequel. I won't be crying over any changes here. The soundtrack is also fantastic. The worlds look more alive and populated. The bigger focus on combat is honestly just what the series needs, and where it can shine the most. The parkour movement was interesting, but clunky. The free-running gameplay has already been done quite a bit in more recent games, although not as often in first-person. And there's a reason for that, it's disorientating and hard to control. As long as the gameplay is more streamlined (that's not to say simplified) and easy to control, then I am sure this will be a fantastic game.

The dialogue is purely a placeholder for the demo, it's still in pre-alpha and probably won't be used in the full game and will instead be done with a proper script (the voice actor was probably just hauled in for 30 minutes to do this part).

I have done some brief work in the Industry with quite a few companies. Just look at any early development E3 trailer's dialogue and then the actual mission on release, the voice acting will be different and better immersed in the game world.

Voice acting is one of the last things devs make and you say 7 years but what happened to Bad Company 2, BF3, BF4 and StarWars Battlefront? I really am hoping it's not final, but at the same time it very well could be. 2. The game is not yet optimized for any platform, that's done almost last, right now they just want it to run. Although the FPS drops are no worse than most games. 3. Actually third point, there's no reason to believe this is PS4 targeted footage. This game is designed to be played with a controller, regardless of system; most platforming games are. As such, demo footage would be recorded with a controller. It would stutter on any platform at this stage so that's also not a reason, (like I said, it's not optimized). Come to think of it, I remember watching dev footage being developed on Uncharted 2 being recorded with a controller but it was running of a PC, it wasn't even on the PS3 dev kit yet.

Faith's new voice actor sucks so harddddd. It's like she's just reading it straight from the script for her first time. The old VA was so much better. Also the combat better not be all choppy "Press X to takedown". It just felt like the combat shown was just a QTE cutscene and kinda kills the motion in my opinion (unless character's current momentum is what dictates the fluidity?). Lastly, don't do the slowmo in game like they did with the window. Once again, keep the speed. Don't put so much focus on player momentum just to force them into slow-mo scenes to kill the rush. Faith's voice actor, my combat gripes, and forced slow-mo are my only complaints. Everything else looks super good!

A few interesting things I spotted: At 0:27, you can clearly see that she does not have a glove covering her right hand. Then, at 0:30 when the character is sliding, she appears to have a glove that is completely new. I'm convinced that we will expect our character to have a variety of outfits throughout the game that fit the same or similar style of the original. Not too sure about it. Another thing I noticed was the floating orb-thing next to what appears to be a zipline at 0:31 - not sure what that might be for, but there's obviously a reason it's there. It reminds me of the various orbs from Crackdown 1 & 2, where you would be able to invite a friend to play or trigger an event by going up to one. Most likely has a different purpose, however.

It does look very nice, but I'm concerned it will be too easy. They have stated that they've trimmed down the controls so that you're basically giving Faith general directions and the computer will determine which specific move is to be done based on surroundings and speed. My fear is that taking down an enemy or passing a complicated obstacle will be as easy as pressing a button, and she'll take care of timing and several specific moves herself as long as the speed is high enough. From what we've seen and heard so far, this seems to be the direction they are going in, and I really don't want a situation where they put in more enemies or fake difficulties to make up for the core game mechanics being too easy. Awesome gameplay trailer though; if it turns out with this look and polish throughout and a solid control scheme I might just build a real gaming computer for this.

In the full game, there's a "focus meter" that fills as Faith runs; it allows her to "dodge" bullets basically, but it'll lower the focus meter If it's empty, she'll start getting hit, and she'll lose stamina; basically her health in-game And she *does* eventually get her hands on an experimental carbon weave shirt; very good anti-trauma clothing

For "pre-alpha" gameplay, this is of extremely high quality. Usually, "pre-alpha" consists of a map that is only development solid colour textures with a player movement object. This looks more like "In Development Beta". I like it.

I'm tired of this "pre-alpha" bullshit. A pre-alpha is wireframes and XYZ-coordinates in the corner and half untextured surfaces. Also, I can't believe they started the trailer with action when they KNOW that's what people wanted out of the game. Hopefully the action is completely optional like in the first game. Finally, Faith's voice is awful. Actually all of the voice acting is pretty sub-par. Hopefully the voice acting is pre-alpha.

Wireframes? What is this, the 80's/90's 3D animation? People don't hand code in meshs anymore. Everything is fully polygonal from the get go today. As for the term Pre-Alpha, yes in this case it's misused. It was probably a tacked on buzzword by the pr department because of all the "pre-alpha" games on steam/kickstarter. It lets the people less familiar with game development know that what they are seeing is unfinished, and may change.
