I used to be just like Red when I was in elementary school. I'm an introvert and didn't speak to anyone but my closest friends. I just shook or nodded my head, rose my shoulders if I didn't know or said only yes or no. But with my friends I talked a lot. I'm now luckily much more comfortable with speaking to my other classmates in high school. My theory is just that Red is an introvert.

Joe Ranft did voice Jerry Recycled Batteries (Peterbilt) in the film. But maybe one reason Red doesn’t talk is because he’s the only firetruck in Radiator Springs.

@@ThePlotoChannel I wonder if Red knows Mayday from the Planes franchise, he’s also a firetruck, and Mayday does talk. Mayday probably did work at Radiator Springs one time, evidence is shown in Planes:Fire and Rescue where in Mayday’s shed a photo of him and Sarge can be seen on the wall.
