7:00 -- I wonder if anyone has tried playing Orca sounds under the water to prevent sharks approaching the coastline wherever people are actively in the water.

I saw "Jaws" 2 weeks before I went on vacation in Florida. I vividly remember going under water and looking out to sea where the water just fades to a murky blue and thinking, yeah, they're out there.

You needn't look that far out. If you're waist-deep in water, there can easily be a shark between you and the shore. My dad used to go parasailing and he saw sharks between people & the shore all the time, chasing fish, not bothering anybody. People just almost never notice. :)
@johnstevenson9956 Жыл бұрын
@@wezul Absolutely true. It was just that when I went under, even though I never saw one, I knew, just beyond my vision, they were there, and that stupid movie made me keep looking.

Your picture of a shark, presumably in a current, while talking about Great Whites sleeping in currents ... is a Tiger shark. 😮

I can't believe you didn't cover the octopus that was killing sharks in the Seattle Aquarium! That's one of my favorite shark facts! :D

"Sharks Don’t Get Cancer" was a myth pushed in a 'health' book in the 90s

What was the health book's agenda? Eating fish prevents cancer? Swimming prevents cancer?

Some animals are known to be able to "half sleep". They "switch off" half their brain and later, swap sides. Maybe sharks do that?

sharks aren't really apex predators as most of them fill the middle predator section, with a few exceptions, like great whites, Cretoxyrhina, Tiger sharks, Bull sharks, and Otodus Megalodon.

Sharks with 500+ species aren't much different than let's say Felines. Each species can vary wildly in its behavior, aggressiveness, and it's ability to function without movement. Bull Sharks have a tendency to be more aggressive as well as ability to survive in brackish or even fresh water. Other species can also be more aggressive. I wonder if some sleep like some whales, where only half their brain rests at one time. Just a thought. As seal populations are exploding in many areas (especially close to shore) in many areas. It only makes sense sharks that feed on them will move in. Thus more human/Shark interactions occur, most being mistaken identity. Fact is much more research is needed and the wholesale slaughter of sharks needs to end on a global scale. They have incredible healing abilities as well as other attributes that could contribute to medical science as well.
