About the Rroma people, it’s true that some choose to integrate into society, some don’t have that option though. Many don’t send their kids to school and that is a major problem for the entire community. Rroma being thieves is not just a stereotype, it’s part of their culture, they used to be traditionally horse thieves. These people were enslaved during the Middle Ages, we have many documents that indicated entire settlements of Rroma being given as dowry or inheritance. A lot of literature (19th century especially) mentions Rroma women as domestic help and nannies and Rroma men as being horse carers and blacksmiths. At the time it’s understandable they resorted to stealing a lot, but the behaviour persisted as a negative trait, explaining why Western people, like the Germans, are prejudiced agains Romanians. The first waves of people who went to Western Europe after the border restrictions were lifted, were Rroma. The name being similar with “Romania” some think all Romanians are Rroma. When I was little, decades ago, there were still nomadic Rroma, they came and settled temporary at the edge of a village with their very colorful carts, crafted and sold any metal object you can think of, the cast iron pots were a hit with our grandparents.🙂 Some are Hungarian Rroma, they’re still very good at metal work I believe and some (in Dobrogea especially) converted to Islam and are partially assimilated into the local Turkish-Tatar community. Like any group of marginalized people, the criminality is high within Rroma communities.

If you’d like to learn more about the Rroma people, their origin in Europe started about a thousand years ago when they had to leave their homeland, India and run from war and persecution there. in India’s caste system Rroma, darker skin Indians were in the lower caste which explains why, even after a millenia they value light skin, specific to the high caste in India. Recently they tried to obtain the expat status from India, to be recognized as Indian diaspora, the request was rejected by India, but from what I understand the leader of the Romanian Rromas intends to pursue the matter further.

Ugh I have some stories too. I study in my home country at University and some exchange students from the west are really shocked when they come here and see a developed country with decent live conditions. A dude from Italy stopped in the city square and took some photos and small reels with himself in front of a fountain because he said, people at home are not gonna believe there are fountains here. And there were some dudes from the States who wanted to go in Ferentari, a ghetto one of the most dangerous places in the country to see what is like in there and if they can make some sort of challenge or something of this sorts. They were shocked when they discovered that no sane person walks there for the sightseeing.

I'm Algerian married to a Romanian ! I've been in Romania for almost a year and i think people are nice especially in Bucharest ! My colleagues always ask me what i think of the country expecting me to say something negative ! I've lived in many countries before and i learnt that every country has its ups and downs ! Once you realize that, you start appreciating instead of criticizing ! And ... worth mentioning: I noticed that people are not that racist or discriminating which is really cool !

I hope this is a proof for others that it doesn't matter what you your skin color is. Insecure and xenophobic people will always look for easy ways to berate you and in case of africans it's their skin and for us is that we steal, we are dirty, liars and so on. Am sa scriu in romana pt a ma exprima mai bine. Este clar ca fiecare popor are si bune si rele. CAND romanii nu vor mai fi afectati de discriminare si cand isi vor FACE tara mandra de ei ATUNCI o sa avem si respectul altora. In mare parte sunt obiceiuri si fapte cand romanii in ignoranta lor si au facut tara de rusine si dupa 1990 au creat o imagine de hoti ,nelegiuti si oameni cu probleme grave pt o societate occidentala. Au crezut ca sunt buricul pamantului , s-au dedat la tot felul de rahaturi si atunci IATA ca dupa zeci de ani INCA suntem perceputi astfel. Mare parte din aceste discriminari vin de la tigani. Romania nu poate in prostia ei sa faca o diferenta intre ROMANI si tigani (romi) . Ce sa zica strainul cand vede ca isi zic romi? si tu esti roman! Mai peste tot in Europa lumea le zice gipsys ..in Romania ..romi si cica mai au si limba aia romanes In Ungaria sunt mai multi tigani , in Serbia ,in Bulgaria . la Cehi, In Slovacia ..si nu-si ziz ungi, sar,bul sau slo ..NUMAI romanii sunt mai prosti de au acceptat in 1990 aceasta denumire (data de iliescu ) ASA CA .. romanii trebuie sa-si suporte prostia politica ca-s confundati cu tiganii pt ca nu-s in stare sa-si faca ordine in viata lor. DA, stim , ca istoria noastra a fost un lung sir de nenorociri si mizerii de la mai toti care au vrut sa cucereasca Romania (rusi, nemti, turci , unguri, austrieci, chiar si polonezi) si asta a facut din poporul roman un popor cu suflet si ospitalier . Germania, are povestea ei trista de istorie, oameni care au pornit 2 razboaie mondiale, care au facut dezastru in istoria europei , care au o mentalitate diabolica de a rade de pe fata pamantului alte popoare (ca nu e fascismul singura lor derapare de la istorie) . Lume aia buna se construieste .. nimeni nu ti-o da frumoasa si corecta .
