Thank you for sharing your experience. After 15+ years with CRPS, 4 SCS units, and a host of injections, the war on opioids has left me grappling with a “now what” scenario. In Feb 2024 I underwent the trial injection like you described, and OMG it was incredible how much it reduced my pain. There’s a part of me that wants that, but I’m worried about 2 things, and 1 I fear will sound petty. You mention how you feel the “puck” shift under your skin a bit if you move a lot. How much has your pain pump affected your personal life? I used to be active, go dancing, go hiking, and had an active romantic life as well, and I’d like you to reclaim some of the life I had before CRPS started stealing bits and pieces of it, but if it means sacrificing some of the peace I still have, I’m not sure I can do it; that’s like swapping one hell for a different one. The second thing is finding a surgeon I trust. I had a fabu neurosurgeon for most of my SCS implants, but sadly he doesn’t do pain pumps, and the two surgeons that do I have zero trust in. The first time I met the one was during a routine SCS battery swap (from BS to StJ) and he started telling me how he was worried about scar tissue as my original unit was put in 7 years prior. So he wanted to completely remove my unit and leads, let me heal completely, then do a second surgery to put a whole new unit. I asked why did my leads need to be replaced, and he couldn’t give me a real reason. So when I said battery swap only he turned into a petulant child who’d been denied a new toy. So knowing I don’t trust these surgeons I’m not even sure how I’d go about trying to find a reliable one in a neighboring state, and how my insurance would feel about that. I’ve tried reaching out to people in my community, but can’t seem to find anyone which doesn’t boost my confidence at all. 😢

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m getting the prometra 2 pump implanted august 24 2021. This is the last option for me because I have tried everything else. Oral medication and patches make me extremely sick and further cause more complications on top of the severe health problems I already have. I’m looking forward to getting my pump.

I’m sorry you’ve gone through so much! I got my pump at 25 and will be having it permanently removed next week. I’m 38 now. I eventually got to a high dose of morphine and was still having breakthrough pain so I decided to have it removed. It’s taken me almost 3 years to reduce the meds but I’m finally there. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and autonomic neuropathy. I was misdiagnosed for years and would not recommend someone with Ehlers Danlos to have this. It lead me to have persistent CSF leaks. Had I known I had this, I would not have gotten the pump. That is just my experience.

Im glad you shared and i bet your husband is happy no doubt! My marriage didnt last through 12 surgeries! But im finely going with a Flowonix next monday, my Dr using Fentanyl. I guess eveyone is different? Oh the headache you had , you should of called your Dr right way, thats from a spinal leak and they fix it with a blood patch they called it? By taking alittle blood from you arm and shoot it in your spine and your good to go in 10 mins! Dont suffer next time, if it happens?

My doctor was in the loop! He refused to patch me :) he said When you patch spinal weeks they have a risk of causing a clot in the tube near your pump and I was so soon after surgery he was worried it would wreck all the new work he just did so he wouldn’t do it I had to suffer

Yes! I’m glad you are researching it!! Find a reputable physician, do your research, have conversations and I wish you the best. And yes, as nick stated, this is for chronic pain…. After your implant surgery did you need to wean off your oral meds as they started to activate the pump doses? I am on Lyrica (pregabalin) Jurnista (Hydromorphone) and Cymbalta. Given it is all for neuropathic pain and spinal cord tethering from a spine injury. I have had several surgeries including artificial disc replacement. I tried a spinal cord stimulator and it didn't work for me and then it failed so I had to have it removed. I have been looking into the pump to try and get rid of the meds as I have ADHD also and the meds give me such bad brain fog and increased the ADHD Symptoms. I have been watching your videos which are quite helpful and informative.

I just wanted to comment and say I also suffer from chronic pancreantitis for the last 3 years. I also have Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction type 2 and Cyclical vomiting. I'm actually on disability and was approved immediately due to tons of er visits and week+ stays. My pain Dr had approved a pain pump in 2019 and my ins denied it. I was just approved a second time last week in hopes ins will approve it this time seeing my history the last few years. If not when my Medicare takes over in November will automatically approve it, so either way, it's coming. I'm so excited, but also slightly nervous. If youd like any support through your journey, I'd love to offer my ear!

@@krazymammaw3040 I'm so sorry 💙💙 I can definitely relate to that. My sod gives me the pancreantitis usually 6-8 times a year for 2.5 years now. When I don't have that then I deal with my sod symptoms of throwing up, awful abdominal pains, fatigue, headaches, nausea that never seems to go away. I have a 7 year old son, and I know this has a large affect on him. Last year I was in the er 32 times for iv pain management and bags of fluids for being so severely dehydrated. This year thankfully only 12 times but my weight is suffering more then ever and it's causing kidney issues and bone density issues. It's hard to make people understand your struggles when you appear to be physically OK. I totally understand that with all my heart! Have you approached your primary or if you do have a pain Dr, about being a candidate for a pain pump? You are your best advocate in your health journey. I've learned that very early in this. I've had to push some of my Dr's to go the extra mile bc it's my quality of life that's suffering.
