Such a piece of work ! the most Astounding and sensitive version of misek sonata, perfectly in tune and a very good sound (big one) you're a great double bass maestro. should you come in Paris to perform a concert recital I'll be the first in place to hear you. congratulation.

I was looking through your older clips, and I was rewarded with this gem! The whole piece shows off your mastery, highlighting your range and technique, all the way to the tour de force ending. The whole piece was was joy to hear, but the lyricism of the second movement is my favorite. Around 7:50 in that movement, to me, sounds cheerful, almost like a dance; other parts can be passionate or solemn. You play every mood with a lovely deft touch that kept me glued to every note; the only thing I could wish is that that movement were longer. The piece was new to me, so thank you for introducing me to it. And thank you for a performance that brightened my day. Just superb. 🤩😍

Listen to her other videos too! I particularly recommend the 648th house concert (Bottesini Elegy No 2 and Monti Czardas), Egilsson’s European Memories from the 681st House Concert, the Mendelssohn Cello Sonata and Bottesini Capriccio Bravura from the 640th House Concert, the Franck Violin Sonata, Bottesini Allegretto Capriccio and La Sonnanbula from Thayer, and most especially the Bottesini Concerto No 2 from the Bradetich Competition. (I have a playlist of all her videos if you need help finding them.)

Perhaps, the next time you perform this piece, it will be recorded by high level audio eqpt, acknowledging it is so much better having this than, say, nothing. ;)

opus4 I’ve been getting this impression too, especially when I just listen and don’t watch. All their videos from Thayer Hall are pretty good sounding.
@matthewv7893 жыл бұрын
I think this was just the regular mic pair near the ceiling used generically for archival purposes (or maybe not even that, nearby rustling suggests this may even be just a mic or mic pair right on the video camera?). This is from a weekly lunchtime “Performance Forum” student concert at The Colburn School. Dedicated recordings she made there are a lot better sounding than this one (as I hope others can find out if they are ever released, though some you can already hear in the Rachmaninoff, Franck, and Mendelssohn recordings).
@ModusVivendiMedia9 ай бұрын
You're right. I believe was recorded with a pair of mics mounted at the top of the stage, used for general archival purposes, and not any special mic setup. That's why it has so much weird room ambience without as clear a direct sound as would be ideal. This was from a weekly lunchtime series called "Performance Forum", where students get practice performing pieces they are working on for an audience of fellow students and faculty. (The entire school is invited, and then I believe lunch is served afterward in a rehearsal hall.) On the other hand, her album "The Colburn Sessions" was also recorded at Colburn (some pieces were recored in this same hall, including one from a recital with audience), by the school's AV manager (who is also an experienced Hollywood recording engineer), and it sounds great.
