Checkpoint: 14years later and this is still one of the few songs i showed my grandpa that he loved and asked to hear at every visit. Been 8years going on 9 now since his passing and this is still the only song that helps me still feel connected to him. I hope this song helps all of you guys too.

Revive a sense of hope Amids these abandoned dreams Rewrite what it is to feel In hopes it will carry me home Drift in and out The light of morning drags me back I need release Separate this body from my mind Send me home My conscience there to send me off to sleep When I need you closer For when I wake I am greeted by shades of grey I'll return to you In dreams, the sun sets in our eyes In dreams, we'll never be apart In dreams, I'll promise you'll never be alone How much I wish your voice could send me home

There are no words to describe the memories this song brings back to life! *Like laying on my bunk in federal prison every night with this on replay thinking about home and everything I lost because of a poor decision.* But I will say that poor decision made me who I am today and that's a better man for sure!

I'm sorry to hear that. Music has a way of letting us tell people things we're unable to find the words for. I'm sorry that your ex wasn't able to live past his troubles to share that message with you and everyone else close to him.

I always loved this song, but this version took on a heavy meaning for me a few years ago; feeling like the home I needed to be sent to was somewhere far away, and knowing that maybe that home was only a dream, but that as long as I stayed breathing, the person I was making that home with would never be alone. I haven’t listened to this song in a few years now because of how significant it was then, but coming back to it, I almost couldn’t get all the way through singing it without fighting back tears.

Dave Benning I hope you found that home you’re talking about dave. I’m sitting here wondering if I’ll ever find my home. A feeling of pure content. I have known nothing but pain in this life and I don’t feel like I will ever get there.

Best version of this acoustic version. It captures a feeling in me so perfectly which none of the other versions do. It's amazing how a little change of tone here and a more subtle tone there can make such a huge difference. I feel this shit so deep in my soul.

@iwantlootla Some metal bands in my opinion write some of the best lyrics in any genre music of our generation. There just over looked because some people don't want to give it a chance, because they think it's just nothing but loud nonsence . However they should all take in to consideration the old saying "never judge a book by it's cover".
