Karl Schubach - Ebb & Flow (Acoustic)

As most of you know, this isn't a new song by any means. It was originally released on Misery Signals' Controller album in 2008. However, the meaning behind the lyrics has grown increasingly more important to me as of late.
I didn't write the lyrics to Ebb & Flow about a specific person. Instead, I wrote it with the idea that one day I'd be fortunate enough to put a name and face to the words. One day....

Hey Karl I just want to say that Mirrors and Controller mean so much to me that I can't even express and your vocals on both of them are incredibly passionnate. It just couldn't be better. Those Misery Signals times were the golden era for real metalcore scene and you were a big part of them. Hope you read it one time

Damn I just cried... I’m a grown ass man. 😂 I haven’t cried in years but I never heard this version before. It hit me like a brick that I couldn’t imagine my life without this song. It’s been there with me through everything good and bad. The song takes you everywhere and back in just a couple minutes, down the rabbit hole and spits you right back out. You go through sadness, anger, strength, peace, and you end in confidence. It’s beautiful. I’ve listened to it to pull me out of so many bad days, good days, on my way to the gym, with my best friends screaming the lyrics, on my motorcycle doing 180 the night after my best friend was killed in a crash. When I hear this song it’s like my life plays before my eyes and all of the bad shit that’s ever happened but it’s always a movie about surviving, and it ends the way I need it to. And no matter what I feel ok after. I truly mean I couldn’t imagine my life if I didn’t have this song. Karl, I hope you’re doing well. You’ll never know how much it all means to some of us. Thank you, brother.

This is so haunting; simply beautiful. I'm not sure which rendition of the song I love more.
