capacitive touch controls are a non issue. And front assist errors can be coded out with OBDevelen which I did for mine. Sucks for you lol.

Capacitive touch are terrible. Have a 24 golf r. My sun roof controller is going to need to be replaced because the capacitive touch or wave motion sensor is tripping out or just not working entirely. The car is has great performance and handles beautifully but there are many shortcomings. Mostly to do with the capacitive touch. Still glad I got the last year they made it in manual.

Errors regarding the assistants seem to be a manufacturing defect in the steering wheel of VW cars. For this reason, a friend's Golf had its steering wheel replaced under warranty. Another friend who works at a dealership says they are doing mass replacements of steering wheels because of this issue.

Yep, same, my friend had a '22 mk8 GTI with tje same issue and got a new steering wheel installed. The fun part is that he still got errors but much less frequently. He traded it in for '24 mk8 GTI and had it for about a month now and no errors - I guess VW finally figured it out.

Crazy how problematic the steering wheels are with the new Golfs - from usability problems with the touch controls to defects causing all sorts of error messages. I think with an 'old' wheel on there the car would be pretty perfect!

All VW needs to do is program the steering wheel heater control to be a press and hold for five seconds (or any other duration) to activate/deactivate. Simple.

Maybe he is still runing original oil weight? Can't talk for the Golf but on B58 if you go for 5w40 the oil temperature on track rarely passes 120 C. Mine stays at 116. A friend's on 0w20 Hit 130+

For what, track? I’d take this. For road? I’d take a45s. Also reg torque converter yes but seeing as it’s all mode dependant it’s hard to call definitives. Both work well merc feels more rear biased even when golf is in drift, in my opinion.

@@rich2579 same with mk7 trims that have the adjustable dampening, the lowering springs are quite nice for a street car. I'd say something stiffer would still be needed for heavy track, because on sport they can still be a quite soft with hard driving

I took the rear seats out of my old Integra just so I wasn’t used as a taxi by my family! No more airport runs at 3am! The cheek people have when going on holiday just to save a £30 taxi😂 If you don’t have kids it makes a lot of sense :) On a weight saving side yes they’re very light. I stripped or bought added lightness for my 350z and I saved 200kg(1270kg with fuel) interior weight is so minimal! The big weights are front seats, battery, exhaust, lighter wheels, stereo speakers etc
