Anyway, on 98RON it should push 460-470 de-cat and 100-200 should be around 8.4-8.5 (8.1-8.2 below 15 degrees) so the car runs fine! With E50 it should push around 550 so 10 sec on 1/4 mile is darn good 👍🏻

@richardharrold9736 they are designed to be turbocharged, you will reduce the lifespan of the engine by doing this, greatly, due to intake system pressure. i am a bmw service tech Atlanta georgia. and, without the turbo, the top end of the torque curve is weak, and non linear

B58 is thirsty under full load. It's also worth pointing out the tank is smaller on the 1 series vs the 3 or 5 series, so it looks even worse than it actually is.

⁠@richardharrold9736it can’t put the power down because it’s a 3l engine in a 1 series and has an open differential and even then it still isn’t handling too bad it’s just unpredictable. Also the b58 sounds great for being basically stock

Also like I said the b58 is mostly stock when they have an exhaust they sound way better. Remember it’s a hatchback that weighs around 1525kg stock and is rwd. Can I just add too there is no way a v12 is running less then 450bhp

Of course this isn’t going to sound as good as the previous n/a 1 series but with everything being turbo 2.0 i4’s the B58 is a nice break and I think sounds pretty good, especially with a modified exhaust

@richardharrold9736also yes the lsd would make a huge difference but the main thing that needs changing is the suspension. It’s quite common knowledge that the m1&240i’s had their suspension downgraded because they we’re getting too close to the normal M2’s lap time for like half the price so if it had better suspension and an lsd the traction issues would be no worse than any other car. Also of course it sounds worse than a 6.0 V12 that’s like saying a 118i sounds worse than an M3 like duh

13:05 another big influence is how much weight is on the driven axle - meaning pressing on the tires, pushing them into the asphalt, increasing grip. Rear seat delete and lithium battery (which is on the rear on most BMWs) removes even more weight from the driven axle in this case, which on a BMW hatchback is already very light to begin with. Why does it work on the drag strip? 1. specially prepared surface 2. going in a straight line there is perfect weight transfer due to momentum to the rear.

That's the reason I opted for a heavier material half cage in mine, didn't bother with a lightweight battery and also keep a hydraulic jack and breaker bar etc in the back.

@@1993j good choices all around. Yes, replacing the deleted rear seats with a half cage is a great way of adding useful (-> improved chassis rigidity) weight back.

Not sure if this one is Xdrive as his previous car was but still, the rear seat does not weigh that much. Most of the weight saving probably came from front seats and sound deadening on the floor. Also the car is built for drag racing so he probably runs dedicated tyres for drag events. With a correct suspension setup it will take off lifting the front and transferring weight to the back. Having too much weight and grip will will start breaking axles and diffs on a car with stock parts.

Don’t think that’s the case here, I think it’s big reason because it has an open diff, you can tell during corner exists, The car isn’t that powerful , but adding more power on a open diff won’t help, especially during corner exist

M140i is one of my favourite cars it’s cheap,fast,highly tuneable and it’s a bmw. Nice too see them actually being driven on track unlike the ones here in the uk that just get crashed or nicked

Weight reduce is the best performance mod for your car. It is good for everything: corner speed, acceleration, braking,.... I also have saved 80 kg on my tuned BMW 330D (E46). It is really not easy to save this kind of weight. My E46: + removed the rear seats and the insulation + removed the spare wheel + removed on-board tools + Lite-Blox car battery + removed the three vibration damper on the rear axle + titan wheel bolts + light-weight OZ-Racing wheels '17 + replaced some parts true complete carbon parts (tank covers, cabin filter cover,....).

In tourist season it behaves like a public road under german driving laws which even as a zone with limited speed (where there was a yellow flag and there is also an exit there in the slowest turn for emergency vehicles.) No helmets needed tho as german law does not require to use helmets. Also keep in mind a helmet with no hans device could cause more harm than good Now when it comes to trackday then it is when the rules change a bit and some safety equipment is mandatory and that includes helmets being a requirement. Also you can overtake on the right side too. Depending on the organizer of the track day it might have more requirements.
