Fl5 does not have a dedicated oil temp sensor and the oil temperature is load base, so it may not be accurate . Moreover if you use it for track it's better to use 5w30 oil instead of 0w20.
@volvo093 күн бұрын
I thought it was estimated.
@Earl_VTEC3 күн бұрын
I had written it before, a Honda mechanic from german maxrev forum once sent a batch of OEM 0w20 to Liqui Moly to have them offer a comparable oil or recreate it. After Liqui Moly's analysis, they responded that they couldn't offer an alternative because they don't have anything similar in their product range, and recreating it would be too expensive due to the many additives in the Honda OEM 0w20 - ultimately, the oil would then be more expensive than the original. Alternatively, I would suggest looking at the Motul V300 series. But ask MOTUL which oil can be used in the K20C1 engine!!!
@ASJC2714 сағат бұрын
I believe the European cars have an actual sensor mounted to the bottom of the oil pan. The us cars just have the empty indentation where the sensor is mounted on the euro cars.
@ASJC2714 сағат бұрын
@@Earl_VTEC I use motul 300v 5w30 in my fl5. The 0w20 is specced just to meet cafe requirements, but will result in greater wear, especially in a track environment. I used 300v 0w20 but decided to switch to the 5w30 (which the manual says is fine to use) for added protection. HTHS is 2.6-2.7 for 0w20 vs 3.5 for the 5w30 - that’s a massive difference, and engine wear at high loads is strongly correlated to HTHS.

@Xchax34 күн бұрын
I have to mention from the FL5 Nurburgring record judgment by many others: I don't understand the animosity of the few people who say it's cheating. And here's why: For reference, the record set before the FL5 was by the "Renault Megane RS Trophy R" and no one cared when that one “wasn’t stock” and released in limited numbers (about 500) for homologation purposes (If you could call it that). Basically to say: "We released this version to the public, so the record stands". Meanwhile, Honda comes out with the FL5 Type R “S” (also releases it in limited quantities to the public) and everyone calls it cheating… As far as I’m concerned, Renault started with the “not stock” record. And making the Type R "S" version the stock Type R (as in: the one sold as the ONLY Civic Type R available) would be too bare bones for most buyers to bare with no comfort for the normal road. As it is a race car version with many items/functions of comfort stripped and a different gearing that is not suitable for street driving. It's kind of like a double-edged sword: damned if you do, damned if you don't. Not to mention, lots of FL5 owners are switching to the Integra Type S's ADS because they find the ride to be too stiff. So the FL5 broke the record. But I still see people calling it cheating. It makes no sense. P.S. Any change made to the original design of a mass produced car, is a change nonetheless. Meaning that we could argue about what should be considered the record holder. But the reality is that *both* corporations released these in limited quantities. The inconsistency in gearing that I mentioned is based on a video by Misha and several others stating that it's definitely different. But the fact remains: *Both* of these are not mass produced cars... where is the arbitrary limit to what can be considered stock and not stock? Where and When did Honda say it was "stock"? It's clear that there were assumptions made. The basis of the Type R S existing based on an FB group is laughable at the least. There could have been far less than what Renault made. But they couldn't beat the FK8 without tweaking their car. And the same happened with the FL5 Type R S after the Trophy R pushed the goal further. And the cycle will continue. I'm starting to understand why there's so many debates on lap times at the Nürburgring: especially, due to European bias. Which is clear. I remember seeing judgement on the price point in the comments of several videos about the Mustang GTD vs Porsche's RS options currently and in the past on Misha's and other car videos. The consensus on my comment is here regardless of Misha's siding and European bias shown by un-liking/hearting my comment after I mentioned said "European bias". That's disappointing. But what's kind of funny is watching everyone grasp for straws below.
@FreestylerAlbert4 күн бұрын
Ohh so in the type R you can complain the gearing was changed and in the ECU target NM was modified. (because there the ecu target NM NOT the boost). But for some reason in the Megan RS the gearing is the same. How weird right? (you can compare it feel free people done it already) Also the FK2,FK8,FL5 gearing 1-6 is the same as the FL5 so people not complain in the FK2 but complain in the FL5 what a weird thing. (The FK8 have a 3% shorter final gear) So sayn it's not suitable for road usage is a freakin lie because not just in this case but all other cases the manufacturers doesn't change the gearing just for the nüburgring laptime. Show me !!!!1!!!! one single type RS. because in the facebook group in the FL5 group there is 0. (I'm member of the group) We got the official paper from Honda of the type RS and you can't order it. Even when you place order it's rejected. I can send you the official Honda paper (with price) of it. Do you need it? Even as Honda owner (DC2, SK2, NSX) I found it shame what honda done, freakin shame. Cheating with the laptime. And everyone know the overheating of the FK8 FL5 and (less FK2s). Honda know it too, did they done anything to fix that in the FL5 ? Nope. They changed the water pump pulley to transfer more water and that's all, and still not fixed. I mean we're speaking about Honda.... what the heck is happpening at them. I'm also open to see what Renault done and you call it cheating. Tell me.

With all the megane RS versions is a trophy R model so you could say it was made for the record but it was also made for consumers to buy and use almost spacificly for the circuit :)

the megane was stock because it was possible to buy the same car that broke the record and did it in a legit way, the civic was factory modified and wasnt avaible for the public to buy with the gearbox and ecu tune being different then in the stock civic if honda could beat the renault team with the civic staying stock they would have done it, but alas here we are
