Hi enjoy your travels having run trucks around europe for 48 years I have found it is quicker getting to Spain on the autoroutes it is also kee fatiguing , less wear and tear on the vehicle and chuck the cruise on saving money on fuel. I use thus with my motorhome now try it Rob and Lynn regards conrad

We live in France, 4 hours from Carcassonne, on the Bassin d'arcachon and often stay over there if we're on our way to Catalonia. It's absolutely beautiful at this time of year but if you go in the tourist season, may to October It's nowhere near as nice , you can't see anything apart from tourist tat shops. But the actual town of Carcassonne is great with some super restaurants . You really are seeing it at its best now. Thanks for a great video 😊

Carcassonne castle where Kevin Costner filmed part of Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. It was used as Nottingham castle (!). Bit touristy, but a great selection of restaurants and craft shops and museums within the city walls. Medieval jousting in June, July and August. Also worth a visit is the birds of prey centre with shows all summer. Also a big fresh water, water park on the lake near the Cité.

Yes and its the film that features that beautiful tree near Hadrian's wall that was chainsawed down by vandals. Now you're driving the route i take to Roses for lunch sometimes. Salvador Dali's spectacular house at Figueras just a bit further along the coast. Jo in France 🇫🇷

In Carcassone you used to be able to park in an aire just on the outside of the entrance to the castle. It was moved a few years ago. Love Carcassone so French and medieval. We had a wonderful meal there in a restaurant built around the stones from the walls. In the summer/autumn there are beautiful clothes shops in Carcassone. Was there no diversion for the closed road? That road isnt always clear of snow on the way to Perpignon.

Hi Andrew, it can be done, but, the aires that are around are only for motorhomes and campers really, I actually don’t think they are allowed on them, although I might be wrong, our friends who have a caravan tend to catch the ferry directly into Spain and stay on a campsite Aww thank you ☺️
