Funny story: that effect initially began by sheer accident. The original plan was simply to have a few Cheez-Its fly across the screen whenever Deep Cut says the word, but then I noticed while reviewing the then-nearly-complete video that the movements of the Cheez-Its I had placed sliding left and right had coincidentally ended up being perfectly timed with Shiver's sweeping hand-motions, and so I decided to put more Cheez-Its throughout the whole song and fully implement them into the choreography...which resulted in me staying up all night working on the editing and not getting to bed until after sunrise. Haha

This skill brought Shiver and Frye knocking on his classroom door when they decided they wanted accompaniment for their singing. This led to the formation of Deep Cut as it is known today. After this, an older classmate asked the trio to make a cheering song for a school competition. Big Man and Frye agreed, but Shiver demanded 30,000G payment, which led to the creation of Hide and Sleek, Deep Cut's very first song. A local bowling alley commissioned a song for a commercial, to which Shiver hiked their price up to 300,000G, and what resulted was their second song, Smeared Canvas, with Big Man's lyrics being inspired by losing in the last round of bowling. The success of the commercial, and the song along with it, made Deep Cut relatively well known in the Splatlands.

I need all the excuses to hate on Deep Cut. I absolutely DESPISED them about a month before the game came out and I was so upset that such good idols that were in the previous games were going to be replaced by “these hooligans,” as I called them. They’re starting to grow on me, and I REALLY don’t want that to happen. These misheard lyrics kinda makes their cuteness deteriorate, especially because of the “we can poop out Cheez-Its” line, and I’m kinda glad that it does.
