Mishriff is a worldwide superstar! Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic full replay

Mishriff delivered another brilliant performance to win the Longines Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan.
John and Thady Gosden’s colt, already a winner of the world’s richest race in the Saudi Cup at Riyadh last month, displayed versatility as well as the highest class by switching back to turf here and winning on his first attempt at a mile-and-a-half.
Mishriff had to do it the hard way too, challenging down the outside after being last of the nine-strong field exiting the back straight, and then proving his stamina as well as his acceleration to hold off two Japanese challengers Chrono Genesis and Loves Only You in a driving finish.
For Gosden, and son Thady who now shares their British trainer’s licence, it was a second big win in under an hour on the Dubai World Cup card - following Lord North’s success in the Turf.
Mishriff, who won at 4-1, had a neck to spare from Chrono Genesis at the line, with Loves Only You and Oisin Murphy another neck back in third.

Great performance by Mishriff, this is one brave colt, and would probably have given Mystic guide a real race had they run him in the world cup . Johnny gosden is a great trainer no doubt. 👍

Just watch Andrew Balding in the next few years now the Arabs are sending him horses ... he won the 2000 Guineas was 2nd in the Derby and 2nd in the St Ledger ... all with different horses ... in fact he would have won all 3 but for the 'O'Briens.

Just watch Andrew Balding in the next few years now the Arabs are sending him horses ... he won the 2000 Guineas was 2nd in the Derby and 2nd in the St Ledger last year ... all with different horses ... in fact he would have won all 3 but for the 'O'Briens ... He has been sent a bumper crop of 2yr olds this season by new arab owners to his stable also some chevely park and Al shabaq, along with king power and Qatar racing etc. ... Things are taking off at Kingsclere for sure

@@scouserdan3 The race where she sustained a large Grade 4 tear of the quadriceps and a Grade 2 of the sacroiliac in running. Didn't race for 8 months afterwards and vets were amazed she didn't pull up, let alone win. That was a display of courage and not ability. Outstanding horses we produce are like So You Think and the multiple Ascot track record setting sprinters we have sent.

Europe and Australia have around 70 Group 1 races each. The biggest difference would be Europe has about 30% more Listed races, which qualify as black type. The reason this year in particular is Covid but more generally it is risk versus reward. Unlike Europe they would be racing for less prize money overall. There was a mile race for $5 million the other week, a $5 million dollar 2000m race in a fortnight over here, plus multiple million dollar plus lead up races. We have a more egalitarian racing industry, the sheiks still play a role, but often prize money is a once in a lifetime opportunity for owners. It's also a change in hemispheres and season, we are pretty strict on drugs and without Regumate the mares in particular can turn. It's a big trip, going from Queensland to Melbourne is a longer trip than Europe to Dubai. For less prize money it doesn't appeal as a great risk and it doesn't particularly add to their stud fee or value. A few Australian horses that have been sent have won races and Winx defeated Benbatl who won the Dubai Turf.
