Richard has addressed all that in another interview. The crash was two crafts colliding, and he said he heard it had something to do with lighting or electrical storms interfering with one of the crafts systems. Two, the being was injured so he couldn't just "fix it and leave". Also, there's no way the US government wouldn't want to get their hands on a living EBE. He's stated that as far as he knows the EBE died about 3yrs later in some air force base. He talks about the situation more in the interview.

Yes, it looks like another promising series after the many great documentaries that already have been made. It will educate us, entertain us, puzzle us even astound us. But will it bring us closer to the phenomenon that hides behind all this? I hope so, but I don't know, there is too much entertainment, too little real research and evidence. We know this is happening and has been going on for a long time, we need someone to come up with something that will wake up the masses.

This episode seems to be saying the whole UFO phenomenon was created by the government to distract us from flying objects that the US has been building. So they try to get us thinking people saw UFOs instead of government technology. Doesn’t make sense to me though because for decades the US has tried to shut down every UFO claim until recently.
