What a treat, thank you for this upload. I remember having to trade tapes in the mail, now I sit at youtube and punch in XTC 1980 and am treated to a gem of great quality audio.

Happy Days!! And you've brought them back! One of the best things about them was even if you didn't know them or their songs, you were humming and thumping the tunes yourself for days afterwards! (and that hasn't stopped for me yet)!

Hahaha, brilliant! I was there! This mini concert was held somewhere in a park in the Dutch town of Apeldoorn. We didn't have any tickets but decided to go anyway. Luckily they were handed out... for free! XTC did Instant Tunes as an encore but the band was not allowed to do another after that (although Andy wanted to). Afterwards me, my brother and cousin sneaked into the dressing room to get autographs. What a great day! Black Sea was about to be released...

@@Joejoesan Dank. Volgens setlist.fm zouden ze begonnen zijn met 'Traffic Light Rock' is dat zo? Lijkt me zeer onwaarschijnlijk: stond al lang niet meer op de setlist, kan hooguit in de soundcheck gezeten hebben. Show start met tape intro en dan meteen Real by Reel.....past niets tussen.

@@Joejoesan Ik weet inmiddels wat er van tape kwam: 'Madhattan' van de LP Mr Partridge - Take Away/The Lure of Salvage uit 1980. Plaat vol met dub versies van bestaande nummers, vrijwel onherkenbaar maar er staat dan ook dit bij: "Madhattan" is a dub experiment by Andy Partridge, based on the track "That Is The Way" by Colin Moulding

SweeT! They are one of the most underrated bands IMHO Saw the Drums and Wires tour in Toronto at Massey Hall and the boys were awesome! I wish they had toured more!!! Thanks for this!!! ArrOOOooo!

The best. I have loved these boys since 77. Andy a god who walks. Just so much fun. Wild they 5:59 go from white music to skylarking...love the crazy tempo of generals & majors. Bloody brilliant!

I have to correct that. They played Are you receiving me as an encore. At the time I didn't know the song but had heard of it - reading about it in magazines. It didn't appear on White Music, Go2 or Drums and wires either. There was no KZbin or Spotify in 1980. Too bad it was the only time I saw XTC. When they did the English Settlement tour the concert in Paradiso Amsterdam was sold out
