She's so sweet :) I think she'll do a really great job of representing America, and I'm not American I'm British but I would be proud :D I don't understand why people are being racist though, are they jealous? Ignorance is present in every situation especially in something like this, some people just find it hard to face the fact that this Miss America is different from the previous ones, she is by far the smartest I've seen and of course beautiful and who wouldn't want someone like that representing their country? Well! If you think about it, it is probably to some extent white is American because historically,whites from Europe migrated to US, fought battles and build this nation. Additionally, US is officially a Judeo/Christian anglo saxon "democratic" nation. Anyone is welcome to come and use the opportunity to better oneself but still this is a "white" nation.And I am not a white but I respect that because I migrated from India to US for opportunity based on the system built by European whites.Regards

ironically a white is American, a black is African American and Indian origin is Indian American and so on. Not making any comments about racism but just pointing out the irony. Most of my American friends are not at all racist but still.

She should not have said "First Indian" as that does not go well with people like me who is an American first and then my race comes into picture. She should have said I am proud to be the first American of "Indian descent" rather than what she said. This again does not go well with average Americans. And I am sure media will pick it up soon!
