I know that Miss Annity represents society and all that, but I can see how her mind works as a ‘person.’ She tries to convince people to be themselves, to not be engrained into society’s standards and just be themselves. If they actually rebel against it (physically and mentally), she leaves them alone, or even helps by eliminating their problems (like how the boy hugged his bully and ended up without a dad). If they don’t reject society’s standards, or do so only in action, they will be her puppets. This is just a thought of how Miss Annity would work as a monster, other than being a personification of society

I wouldn't say that, look at her reaction when that guy hugs the bully, she's reeling in pain, if she was there to help she would be happy and leave the home, but she doesn't, she instead goes after his father. This tells me 2 things, she doesn't want her victims to move on because she feeds on their feelings of unnacceptance and she didn't need to put anyone through a nightmare scenario because she quickly snatched up his dad. This isn't a human being who wants to help, this is a monster playing with it's food.

@@8balls122 Emotions, Miss Annity toys with her victim's emotions also she doesn't play with her food, she is depicted as Society, She is the embodiment of society, a creature that seems harmless at first until its starts affecting you, Miss Anity doesn't eat as seen, she makes her 'victims' into puppets because thats how society is they turn people into what they want them to be. As you know, supernatural spirits can be formed from negative emotions and that's miss annity a bunch of negative emotions stuff into one, she felt pain from watching her victims being happy because she doesn't want this thing to continue anymore. My theory is, Miss Annity has 2 souls trapped in her the souls of negative emotions, stereotypes, etc. and the other one is the woman we see on tv, she must have been a stereotype in the past, and when she died she turned into a spirit that traps other into her strings of lies. Miss Annity does have a willing to have mercy though, she always gives her victims chances to redeem themself though like how she gave the father a chance to help the baby?

He did that because he had something to defend himself next to him, anyway he defeated her by being nice and kind of "accepting" his trauma or overcoming what haunted him, even if the first guy defended himself (he couldn't because there wasn't any object to do so) there was a chance that he couldn't go through the psychological part and still get caught by her, but the people who defend themselves are like that because they have the chance to, not because being brave or not or stuff like that, doing that is almost a human reflex lmao.

I love the sociological messages in this. In all of them, its about insecurities and gender roles which Miss Annity is an enforcer of, and they all fall victim to their insecurities about who they are, as people and within the company of people. Miss Annity is a PERFECT sociological figure: multiple eyes like the eyes of society, multiple arms like the grip of multiple hands, a spider who ensnares and preserves prey and feeds off them slowly, draining them, and she lives in the walls, just like the phrase "the walls have ears". This series is BEAUTIFUL and I love it with my entire heart! Thank you so so much, Crypt TV!

My take on the meaning behind the film: Miss Annity represents society/stereotypes/etc. The girl is trying to fit beauty standards, the parents are trying to fit traditional family stereotypes, and the dad is trying to make his son be the stereotypical view of "being a man". But the son doesn't want to fit into that box, and that's how he defeats her; he doesn't get bullied and turn into a bully himself, he doesn't take off his makeup despite being bullied for it. He chooses a different path and refuses to conform to the expectations Miss Annity (aka society) puts on him.

My take, Miss Annity lesson is about self acceptance. the ice skater only couldn't stop wanting to be skinnier, the stay at home dad clearly feels like its not his job to look after the kids, but the kid in drag even though bullied with harbouring self doubt over came it and accepted himself the way he is. In a weird way I fit into all 3 stories.

Here’s a theory. I think that Miss Annity supposed to represent modern society and how toxic it can be when people fall out of societal norms. (Most of which are rooted in societal norms in the 20th century. That’s also why Miss Annity has an old fashioned sort of vibe.) She targets those who don’t fit into those standards, such as Anna who believes she doesn’t fit into society’s beauty standards, Peter who is on the fence of being the homemaker or the traditional breadwinner, Dan who has a son who doesn’t fall into society’s views of masculinity, and the son Jacob who wears makeup. All of the other characters end up falling into society’s expectations with the exception of Jacob, the son. That’s because he embraced that he is different and accepted himself, breaking from societal expectations and being free from Miss Annity’s wrath.

think you've got it backwards actually. she finds people who are trying to force themselves to fit into a role that they dont fit in to (first episode you can see that take on a more literal meaning) and pushes them in to that role before killing them if they dont accept themselves for who they are. you can see in the final episode that when they main character refuses to be forced into this "masculine straight male" role, miss anity doesnt look scared or hurt. she just looks at him while backing away, because he learned to love himself for who he is (which means he has no self perceived role that he thinks he needs to fit, so she has no need to attack him)

Kinda love how the backstory is just so abruptly laid on us. In the first episode we see Helen Annity (the human) after her suicide, having hung herself - followed by a spider imbued with a shard of torment (the purple spider). We don't know whose body that is in the beginning, until the last episode where the father watches the news report and we learn of Helen Annity's death. Helen Annity clearly wanted to return people to these archaic value systems - and the spider has either obtained her consciousness, believes itself to be her or is enforcing her values in her name.

@@mad_as_Hat.terish I think that might be the case. I remember reading a comment on here, theorising about Annity. And they suggested that she may be a fusion of Helen’s spirit and that spider. Tho, what actually catches my eye is Annity’s MO. She doesn’t punish people for breaking those standards she preached as Helen, but more rather punishes them for following them. If we stick to the fusion theory, maybe Annity is remorseful of her old views, and tries to show others that they must accept themselves to truly be happy. Because the only person she spares is the boy, after he accepts that he may not be a man, but he doesn’t need to be one. And it’s his father, who pushed that mentality of manliness, who faces her wrath. I really hope they continue this series, because Miss Annity is easily my favourite Crypt TV monster. Plus some more episodes could potentially give us some insight into Helen while she was alive, and how she ended up the way she is now.

My take is that Miss Annity, before turning into a monster, was some sort of ultra conservative writer, advicer, educator or something along those lines. Her methods were unusual and caused a lot of controversy, which could mean all sorts of things, like the use of verbal assault and physical torture in order to turn certain people into ideal members of society, according to her conservative point of view. Something happened that made her realize her ideology and methods were wrong and only caused harm to innocent people, so she killed herself out of regret. As some sort of punishment, an evil spirit, which I assume is related to the purple spider seen by the end, turned her into a human-spider hybrid monsters condemned to spend all eternity punishing people who try to fit into the ultra conservative values she spent most of her life preaching about. The first episode is about beauty standarts. The girl is obessed about her waist's size, desperately trying to fit into society's standarts. Miss Annity gives her plenty of time to accept her body the way it is, all the girl had to do was take that metric ruler off her waist, but she refused to, so Miss Annity dragged her to "conservative hell". The second episode is about the ideal family model, the father is in a tough choice between spending time with his family or dedicating himself fully into work. The baby dolls Miss Annity leaves him while he works represents his daughter, who always cry while in his arms. All the man had to do to stay alive is pick a doll and attempt to make it stop crying, embracing his "warm family man" side, but he never picks them and shows Miss Annity that work is more important, so to "conservative hell" he goes. The third episode is about being a man. After being scolded by his dad for liking makeup and not fighting the bully back, the boy starts to consider fitting into his father's expectation (thowing his makeup tools in the trash), which grabs Miss Annity's attention. His test revolves around either "being a man" and fighting the bully or letting his sensitive side appear and comfort the bully. He made the right choice and Miss Annity spared him. Meanwhile, the father refused to embrace his "unmanly" son and got dragged to "conservative hell". P.S: Being conservative is not bad, I am one myself, but the series seems to critic a cliche radical conservatism, which can be extremely toxic.

The TV in the last one said she was a "makeover maven" with unorthodox practices (as seen by today's society, but probably not when she wrote the "Life Lessons With Miss Annity" book). Anna could have saved herself of she had cut the measuring tape before it was too late, but she looked in the mirror and instead of seeing Miss Annity and the version of her that was tugging on the tape, she saw how she fit into the lines Miss Annity had drawn. She was finally perfect and had conformed to the ideal figure skater's looks.

This is what I’ve gathered from this monster and the series: Facts: 1. 16:29 Miss Annity is obviously a spider monster who can climb on walls, grow spider legs from her back, create openings to sneak through floors and walls, and walk upside down. 2. 18:45 This series must take place at least in the late 1960s. The reporter in the tv also repeats that a 1967 episode left viewers hospitalized. 3. 6:17 This has to be a flashback of her suicide. The chairs are all empty and the clothes and book match her appearance. 4. 0:11 and 13:51 This series takes place at Bridgeport Apartments. (I thought this was like some sort of private school with dorms or something like that the first time I saw this.) 5. 20:16 It looks like she’s making an audience out of the ones that she’s, “helped”. 6. 1:50, 8:08, and 14:36 It looks like she bites her victims before she attacks them. This is very true to what spiders do, as the venom in their bites are used to paralyze their prey. I think her bites have a sort of venom that allows her to make her victims see and feel hallucinations of the things that they struggle with, which she uses against them before she goes in to finish them off if they don’t learn. Theories: 1. 0:08 Her hand came out of that woman’s mouth. Maybe that woman was her and she molted. It might be that when she committed suicide, she managed to come back and spent the next years in that old room going through a very long spider life cycle before becoming her full grown self, ready to give more life advice to those in need. 2. 6:35 and 20:36 The purple glow seems like the Torment Fragments in Camp Monster and Water’s Edge. Maybe she found a fragment that would turn her into a monster and somehow put it inside that spider to keep it safe.

One of my favorite tiny details in this is the fact that, in the emailed clip, when the father attempts to pause the video and take some agency, Annity continues to talk, becoming more agressive in her approach. I find it very very ironic that I’m a huge arachnophobe and yet Miss Annity is my absolute, all time, favourite Crypt TV creature! She’s just so cool! She reminds me of the ‘Jorogumo’ from Japanese folklore. She’s just so cool and creepy and whoever designed her did an absolutely amazing job! I’m so creeped out by her and yet whenever she’s onscreen, I just can’t look away. The prosthetic makeup on her face is absolutely insane as well! She’s just an amazingly designed creature! Props to the makeup artist(s) and props to the person playing her as they never say anything but just her body language makes her seem so threatening, although the spider face definitely helps! Lol XD I really hope that we get to see more of her in the future! Again, props to everyone who works at Crypt TV! An interesting parallel to the Look-See. These monsters seem to be benevolent in their own twisted way. They aren't like the brute or any of the others. They fit squarely into their own category. They seem to have a set of rules to which they each abide by. Also they're notably more powerful than some of their less "civilized" (if you can call it that) counterparts. I'd love to see a hierarchy of these monsters at some point. What would you even call the monsters that fit into this category?

This creature is sentimental and I love it. It tries to teach people lessons but some of the lessons aren’t right and that’s such a great idea to turn into a monster. The monster mean well but it’s ideas are stuck in the 1900’s. I love what you are going for and I give you serious props. Btw I think one of the next ideas/lessons that Mrs. Annity should try to teach is always stick with family. But that should be the last one, like this episode had. The last one was the idea/hint that showed the monster meant well. And do it on a man/woman that is to stuck up with themselves and doesn’t care about family and constantly abuses or ignores their children. It dark but it goes alone with this monster so well.

I don't think Miss Annity means well at all. All her victims conformed to the stereotypes society (and by extent; she) placed on them and that's when she was able to take them; if she meant well and was trying to teach them one of her lessons, then she'd leave them alone when they started acting the way she thought was proper. She was going to take the boy when he was punching the bully because "a man is strong and fights". But when he looked into the mirror he knew that wasn't who he was even if society thinks it should be. So when he got up and hugged the bully- breaking what society and Miss Annity said is the right way boys should act- he broke her claim on him. If you notice, all her victims are from the same apartment complex. I think that's where Miss Annity killed herself and she feeds off people who force themselves to conform. Probably has something to do with why she killed herself.

this is my take on what's happening, if anyone noticed other things or wants to help me flesh this out better please do Miss Annity was a "self-help coach" type of thing that gave people advice on how people could conform to their gender roles, she started facing controversies as the world grew more accepting to the new order and she began to come to terms with the fact her advice was genuinely hurting people she killed herself due to this and was unable to accept herself or take responsibility for the fact that what she did was bad, and now she gives people a deadly chance. the figure skater has the choice to erase the mirror or choose to ignore her warped idea of never being small/good enough, and when she didn't miss Annity slowly turned the dial-up till the girl died due to it. Peter was unable to ignore his work for even a second when his baby was crying or wanted attention and therefore created his own issue of his daughter not bonding with him. If he had ignored the computer chime or maybe even just held onto the baby instead of putting it down and literally casting the child aside, miss Annity would've let him live, but he didn't so she turned the dial-up, the ultimate selfish act that doomed him being trapping his wife, the parent who did most of the children care in the room with what he knew meant to harm. The final kid was spared due to him seeing the self turmoil within him in miss Annity and her test itself. he says "you don't have to be like this" he means aggressive and violent and he means a typical guy but this is also something that resonates with Miss Annity, she doesn't have to be a monster, she didn't have to keep giving harmful advice, nobody needs to conform, he learns the lesson the monster wants to teach. this is very rough so like someone correct me if I'm wrong i will take full responsibility

First, I noticed no one else pointed this out, but "Miss Annity" immediately made me think "My Sanity". Now onto the theory: This particular creature preys on those struggling between fulfilling societal standards and accepting who they are. If you just can't make yourself conform to a certain social expectation, but you fail to accept the "flaws" that make you unique, you are taken away for Miss Annity to feed on your insecurities. I think Miss Vanity would be a more fitting name as the person she was in life and the monster she became in death were both focused on one's image. I wouldn't be surprised if she killed herself due to the fact that she was aging.

Hey I think I may have figured out when this story is taking place timeline wise. 1. The laptop Peter owns and the format of the internet site he uses. I was born in the 90s and remember sites back in the early 2000's format being very similar to that. 2. Despite having a lot of outdated kitchen, Peter's coffee maker and kitchen sink are fairly modern. 3. The type of cell phone Peter uses to talk to his boss. 4. Lastly the flat screen TV for the family in apartment D. Judging by all the evidence I figured that all three episodes have to take place somewhere between 2000 to 2010. I have no idea what will happen in later episodes but I'm guessing that they might stick to that timeline era or do something involving current events.

Oh yes when the girl died from turning to her dream body it kinda gave me flash backs seeking the perfect body But why didn't I get it starving myself vomating and making sure I counted the calories each time one glass off water turned into none I new I may die if I kept doing this to my self But one day I ate a fresh cooked burger from my mom so tender I couldn't conten my hunger I ate and ate and there was nothing to remain on my plate. I was glad I didn't need to do those stupid things still thinking skars me but I guess it healed maybe one day I wouldn't need to worry about but soon a or later it get me in the end...

I love this whole idea! It almost seems like Miss Annity is an ironic hero in a sense. She seems to be teaching each individual a specific "life lesson". The girl shouldn't be pursuing a thinner body because others (or society) say she has too, because it ends up killing her in the end. The father shouldn't focus more on work than at his family just because it's the stereotypical father thing to do, because it ends up killing him. The teen with makeup shouldn't fight because it's what a "man" should do, and he doesn't which is why he's spared. In essence, during the end of each killing, Miss Annity is teaching us all about the dangers of following traditional or societal norms since it will end up with us all dead, adding to it the ironic saying of "Isn't that right, [Insert Name]?" which highlights just how each one individual fell into one of those norms. All in all, bravo to the production team and everyone who worked on this! This was all just so amazing! *Chef's Kiss *

There’s something supernatural about the Bridgeport Appartment Complex. It’s something that brings fear to life. Something that reads people and haunts them. Something like ... what fuels the Motus Operandi of the LookSee ... If You Yourself Cannot Release, Then It Will Come To Take A Piece. I’m sure all you writers can swap some words to phrase it relevantly to Miss Annity. Perhaps her sorrow as a byproduct of sheer hatred for the changing world was one or the main cause of her Suicide ... and the concentration of the force that allowed her presence to carry on ... in that generalized location. Perhaps a few Pages in the Chronicle of The Sunny Family Cult may have something to say about Miss Annity and the Bridgeport Apartment Complexes. You heard it here first ... whichever Force Empowers the LookSee is intertwined, somehow, with the Force that Empowers Miss Annity ...
