Michelle Pfeiffer never was a good enough singer to make this number justice on a stage. Sure, in modern movies, you can perfect the voice digitally later, so not that much need for a actual professional singer and musical performer.

Tbh I think it speaks to how badly this was directed and how well the film was directed. Chenoweth is a fantastic broadway actress and she couldn’t make this work, while the movie allowed Pfeiffer to shine
