I just watched him turn himself into Jeeves before my eyes! Astaire deserves to be called a legend. His dancing and singing were superb and he was a fine actor. I think his last role was in 1981 "Ghost Story", he must have been in his 80s and he was perfect. That book and the movie scared the beejeebers out of me! I know that critics don't consider him to be a good singer, maybe not technically, but the emotion and his almost magical ability to bring a song's lyrics to life was beautiful. In the 1936 movie "Swing Time", Fred Astaire sings "The Way You Look Tonight" to Ginger in a way that makes me melt every time I hear it.

I know Fred looked older than his years, but he appears to be here in great physical shape what a wonderful performance, not forgetting Audrey: I have a signed photo of her taken by Bob Willoughby along with Monroe, Taylor and Seaburg, Black and white prints from my days in Theatre etc., HAPPY DAYS LONG TIME GONE!

Although she looks a bit like Audrey Hepburn, this amazing dancer and actress/singer is Barrie Chase.

A wonderfully witty and ironic interpretation of this rather poignant song by Cole Porter. Who partnered the ageing yet still great Astaire on this occasion?

Barrie Chase. She did all his dance specials with him & was his most long term partner after Ginger.

@@silverlakeas For the record "Astaire Time" in 1960 was his third special. The second in 1959 was called "Another Evening with Fred Asiaire". He also did a fourth in 1968.
