Feel like Kena Bridge of Spirits also deserves a mention. It harkens back the the PS2 and 6th gen in many ways. It has modern quality of life improvements and a souls like ish combat system, and it is open world. But every area is split up and you gradually unlock an ability and also a barrier with said ability which essentially works the same way as having the village as a hubworld and the other areas as unlockable levels with their own theme and challange, like in a PS1/2 game. Only without a loading screen. There is platforming and puzzle solving, and secrets and collectibles. I found a lot of Jak & Daxter and Okami DNA in the game. And even some Sly.

Very, very cool idea for a video. And with CV in particular, I'm genuinely excited for at least one game I've never heard of, or didn't pay any attention to at time of release.

I may look a bit more into Real Web Legends. Awesome to see Maximo and MediEvil being mentioned, let alone Haven: Call of the King! Haven is a deep cut! (Just like Dr. Muto, Vexx and my personal favourite Kya: Dark Lineage).

Loved the PS1 Strike games. EA will likely never make pro military games like those today. Let alone Future Cop LAPD.

@ if anything, a game that subverts the pro military vibe or a future war would be awesome.

Pumpkin Jack has a bit too much jank and is a bit too easy to be in the Maximo league, IMO. I just replayed Maximo 1 last week and that really makes you miss this style of game. Cute-looking but tough as nails and with claustrophobic but well though-out levels.

I'd add Wanted Dead to the list too. Fun throwback to the Xbox reboot of Ninja Gaiden. Even got a big patch that fixed those annoying cyber ninja enemies. That new Gungrave Gore game is fun too. Not as good as the PS2 original, but still a fun throwback. And man do I miss Tenchu Stealth Assassins. Really hoping that franchise returns one day. Rikimaru is best ninja. Oh and there's Intravenous 1&2. Think Hotline Miami X The Punisher X Splinter Cell.
@CulturedVultures3 күн бұрын
I was thinking of Intravenous! not sure where to place it though, might turn up in a PS1 video? or a Steam Deck hidden gems? fun game though for sure
@Gruntvc2 күн бұрын
@CulturedVultures, Probably PS1. Both Intravenous and Hotline Miami were likely inspired by Loaded on PS1. Hoping Intravenous 1&2 come to consoles too.

Does Nightrunners qualify for the list? If you forget the car models are more modern in terms of how they react to the overal environment (I'd say they look like from a PS3 game) the rest has a blurry/noisy feeling...

@CulturedVultures oh definitely check it out then!!! Also I'd truly love to invite you play Toram Online and its predecessor Iruna which have graphics similar to Kingdom Hearts! It's available both on Steam and phones but problem is I don't know if it can be categorised as a game that recreates the PS2 as these games are over 14 years old but in case you decide to check them out let me know so that I can give you a tour 😁

While the chance to buy it physically has come and gone, The game Sable is worth a look just for that sense of vibes that I haven't gotten since the 00s. it runs like gravel on the ps5 sometimes but still worth a play from its month on plus will say though, on the eve of the switch 2, we will need a way to say this game works on both current and immediately preceding console generations. saying ps4, ps5, xbox one, xbox series, switch and switch 2 is too much a mouthful. Cars will split it into late model and classic/historic. or maybe were removed enough to just say PlayStation, xbox, and nintendo consoles with online.

I stopped playing Praey for the Gods because of the annoying survival stuff. But maybe I'll give it another go. Luckily, you can turn a lot of gameplay mechanics off. I just wanted the "full experience" first....might have more fun when customizing it to be more of a shadow of the colossus experience.

The name is on the screen as soon as the segment starts, and then the box art pops up, and then I say its name (multiple times) What is even the point of clicking a video if you're just going to hover over the timeline and skip the video? Just go to Reddit if you want a list of names
