Every time I see this video I am brought to tears. If only the tw*ts in power could see how beautiful South Africa could be if everyone united like this

Unfortunately reality is very different. The powers behind the scenes, who financed the "liberation", are still in power. Only the veneer has changed. Read Stephan Goodson's book on Central banking. There lies the root.

This video should be played before every Parliament sitting, before every political rally and before every interview with any politician. Because this is who the broader public is. And despite the attempts by our politicians to divide us, this harmony is what most South Africans want. This should be the soundtrack to our revolution, where we take away the divisive rethoric from our politicians and remind them that most of us want peace and unity. Well done to all the artists. You made a middle aged white guy shed a tear for what South Africa is suppose to be.

As another middle aged white guy I agree 100%. I exited high school at the end of 92 at a time when expectation of positive change was huge and I was filled with hope for a better country. I just hope my kids get to experience South Africa as it should be, the SA Johnny Clegg and so many others fought for.

Johnny was the first 'celebrity' I ever met in person. I passed him in a hotel parking lot and said 'Howzit Johnny.' He kindly returned the gesture. What an incredible life. This tribute is testament to the lives he's touched with his music. I grew up listening to The Scatterlings of Africa on LP. My first musical influence now that I think about it. Thanks for the 'firsts' Johnny. Your love for South Africa and it's people will be fondly remembered and honoured. Thanks for posting this Karen.

I have been a fan of Mr, Clegg since the 80s. As a citizen born in the US, I am jealous that we do not have a national hero like him, a bridge between cultures, pointing the way to a brighter future. He's your Pete Seeger, & Dylan (if Bob was more politcally active), & your Eric Clapton, adopting a music tradition from another, so very worthy culture. He has rightfully celebrated the value of every culture, that can be woven into the tapestry of Humanity. What a Great Heart !!! I cry everytime I watch/hear him & his brothers, sisters, mentors performing together. Long may his life guide us !

As we mourn your death not forgetting the liberation of free spirited songs, you have proven to the Nations that learning and embracing Multi-language it's possible. How can we forget your Humanity, Laughter when the odds were against the Black Nation you taught us that's it's ok to be Vulnerable and get lost in the music. To: Jenny (Warrior's Wife) Thank you for lending South Africa the time to Listen, Bond, Laugh, Dance with your Husband. He could have done a lot with you but you gave us a change to share experiences with him. It's now sad we have say Good bye, We will always have goose bumps when we listen to his to his music still. But the Battle of Cancer is gone he will feel no pain any as Umdali is waiting for him. I can say more and deep things that happen during his time when he enter the Industry but now those songs built us to where we are today . Great Heart Johnny Clegg The world is full of strange behaviour Every man has to be his own saviour I know I can make it on my own if I try But I'm searching for a great heart to stand me by Underneath the african sky A great heart to stand me by I'm searching for the spirit of the great heart To hold and stand me by I'm searching for the spirit of the great heart Under african sky I'm searching for the spirit of the great heart I see the fire in your eyes I'm searching for the spirit of the great heart That beats my name inside Sometimes I feel that you really know me Sometimes there's much you can show me There's a highway of stars across the heavens The whispering song of the wind in the grass There's the rolling thunder across the savanna A hope…

having kids grow up in the back seat of your car means they have to listen to your music. That's at least the case up until they get big enough to have an opinion, a voice, the desire to be heard and or push boundaries. Without really planning it, Johnny's greatest hits CD has been in my car since even before I became a dad. My munchkins have therefore been forced to listen to it, and I'm happy to report that it remains one of their favourites. It's not by chance that Third World Child was an album played to me as a 7 year old and has never left. It's pure coincidence that Steven Biko and Victoria Mxenge are two of the fallen freedom fighters mentioned in Asimbonanga, and it is with great excitement that they hear their parents' names in the song. I'm not sure what Johnny's legacy will be as time passes, but he will remain a hero in our household forever. This incredible video gave me goosebumps, and is a fitting tribute to a fine man.
