Hi Michelle, I struggled with boundaries without knowing it. I am always trying to be nice and do what people would like me to do even if I'm not happy about doing it. I guess it's from the way I grew up. I would get very angry with the person I'm trying to please, after awhile I totally start to avoid them and would lash out sometimes because of built up anger. I just never learned what was happening, to then put up boundaries to protect myself and avoid being walked all over. Thank you for putting the series together. I would really benefit to become a better woman I am in Christ.

I could die from the pain. I'm submerged in darkness. No light at the end of the tunnel. I'm desperately alone and completely traumatized. PANIC AND TERROR ALMOST CONSTANTLY FLOOD ME. I am paralyzed and traumatized and debilitated and breathless, with almost-constant panic attacks. In February of this year (2023), the man whom I thought was my best friend... Discarded me like garbage. Replaced me for another. In doing so... He gave me SEVERE PTSD. We're in July, now... It's been almost exactly 5 months... I MUST GET OVER THIS and MOVE ON... Please, help me, God! REMINDER TO SELF: God is knocking at the door of your heart and you have to let Him in! ❤

This is a much needed series sis. I didn't have boundaries before and that made my life a living hell, I thank God that He helped me set up boundaries and sticking to them has been so amazing. But I feel like some of them are way too tight so I'm definitely not going to miss a video of this series.

I’m so excited!! This is something I struggle with so much, thank you for starting a series on it! Edit: I am rewatching this video and taking notes, and when you said at 12:03 “people are allowed to be angry. They are allowed to express their emotions and deal with them on their own” My body just exhaled a sigh of relief. I found it to be very profound. Thank you, Dr Michelle.

I have been the #1 go to person for everyone else. but tend to blyr the lines in terms of my OWN boundaries, with myself from guilt, due to childhood abuse/ trauma because of my malignant narcissistic parenting I received growing up. ( Psalms 27:10) has ALWAYS been my favorite scripture. thanks again for your channel! Matthew 6:33 is definitely epically true!!!🍋🎀🌻🌸

Michelle, may God bless you!! I am so excited for this series! Alone this video has already been so, so helpful! Now I know why I sometimes act the way I do, it just makes so much sense. I’m especially looking forward to the boundaries with parents series. I am 22 years old and still living at home and often struggle with how to set boundaries, with my mom in particular. I just know that your videos will help. Much love and blessings!

Does anyone else have this issue of a friend trying to change you? Like for example: 1. I wear my hair natural usually in a silk press and it’s long and healthy (thank god). I don’t wear wigs or weaves nor do I have a desire to cut my hair. In fact it’s not my style at all. but my friend keeps throwing the idea of me getting a wig or cutting my hair. (She wears wigs and her natural hair isn’t the healthiest at the moment). I told her each time that no that’s not my style and she still keeps bringing it up to the point that now I have an attitude everything she does because I feel like she’s not respecting my decisions. 2. This same ideology goes towards dating. She keeps pushing me to date and I keep telling her I’m fine and she’s constantly trying to hook me up with one of her boyfriend friends and I’m constantly rejecting. I went on a date with a guy and it turns out he wasn’t the right fit for me so I ended communication. For weeks she kept insisting that I call him. I kept telling her no I don’t have a desire to hit him up to the point that when she last mentioned it I completely came off very stern and she had the nerve to ask me why I’m acting in such a way. I like her. She cool. But idk if she’s trying to be a good friend or she’s not being a good friend by not respecting my decisions that I make for MYSELF that only effects MYSELF! Please share your thoughts ladies.

With regards to hair: it seems your friend may be insecure about her own hair and feels “lonely” in wearing a wig, but sees you with your thriving hair. With dating: you should probably ask her about why she is pushing you to date. If this is someone you trust, also tell her why you are not dating at this moment (adjust according to how much you want to share with her). Disclaimer: I don’t know your friend so I don’t want to judge her mindset harshly or assume, but sometimes people can be lonely in certain places in their life and want people to join them (good or bad).

@@bloomingrose6253 wow. Thank you so much for your input. She has other friends and they wear wigs. In fact I think I may be one of two of her friends that wear our natural hair. It’s just my texture is different and more I guess “coolie”looking. And in regards to dating I told her plenty of times to not worry about me. I Always try to respond in a way that doesn’t come off aggressive or stern but it seems that’s the only time she hears me. And I don’t think it’s fair that I have to get like that.

I found your channel maybe like a month ago and this will be my first series that I follow along with. I'm ready because for the last year I've noticed so much that I should have not allowed with family and friendships. I look back and think I could have avoided so much if I had boundaries or was able to say, NO and stand firm on it. Which in the end led to no longer speaking to someone or having the same bond. But this series is going to be a good one for me. I started speaking up for myself more recently and this is just only going to help me even more. Thank you

I resonate very deeply with the idea of hating conflict. I get so worried that people won't like me so they'll leave me. That fear of abandonment runs deep and I know the major reason is because my dad was in and out of my life and verbally abusive. That fear is strongest with my parents and stepparents. So I would say yes then try to undermine the effort without saying how I truly feel. Or I'll say yes and resent my loved ones because I didn't really want to do it. I was never taught that it was ok to say no to my parents, so I never learned how to do so respectfully. I'm working on my assertive communication skills and how to enforce the boundaries I set in place with people. I had those boundaries violated by those closest to me so it's a struggle. It's hard and painful, but very worth it to feel fully integrated mind, body and spirit.

I have been in a relationship with a man for a long time and I’ve let him in FULLY already, I’m afraid that if I set new boundaries he’ll feel as if my feelings have changed toward him and that’s not the case. I just want to reset boundaries so he won’t have FULL access to me until marriage!

Hello , Dr Michelle i am a person who was lacking in boundaries before so when I started listening to your podcast i began to develop the habit of setting up boundaries in my life but I am still lacking it in terms of dating for eg : when i become interested in a man after texting and meeting up so if he started giving me mix signals i get angry easily because I fee like he is keeping me at an arms length . So can you please do a podcast on that so that i and the rest will know how to set up boundaries when a man is giving mix signals so that we will not get upset .
