Men treat you based on how you treat yourself. Set the boundaries with yourself first and then enforce those boundaries with others second. “Most men are NOT going to like the boundaries that you set. Your boundaries are not there for men to like. Your boundaries are there for men to RESPECT.” - Dr. Michelle Amen, Dr. Michelle. Amen. Honestly, this should be put on a t-shirt.

One boundary I had to set with a guy I’m talking to, on the first date, was to not call me endearment names. I love them, but that’s something I want to save for when a relationship is exclusive. He listened :)

I dropped my guard and let someone be intimate again after being abstinent two years and a few months. Formulating the convo in my mind. I want to be a wife to the man God has for me. Not back on his rotation. I am vulnerable to him still. Disappointed in myself and moving to do better. I am NOT a placeholder. I am coming into alignment with God's original plan for my life.

You’re so blessed. I truly always wanted to wait until marriage but had zero parental guidance and was told repeatedly by friends and peers that I basically wasn’t allowed to wait until marriage. I’ve never had “casual sex” a day in my entire life. I don’t drink or smoke or use drugs. I always just wanted to be a good wholesome wife and mother. Yet, here I am, a single mom. Really wish I could get my life back and would’ve had someone tell me it was okay to wait. My kids and I would not be in this situation.

Same. Never again. I was always trying to please people because I didn't want them upset with me but in the end I was the one upset and felt taken advantage of. Between me and another person being upset it's going to have to be the other person. Why should I. Moving forward it's me first. Being my own supporter and having my own back. No need to put the opinions and feelings of others above my own. They not doing that for me. Love thyself first!

Yes!! A man will only do what you allow him to. They are very observant of us. I set boundaries with my husband early while we were dating. I let it be known what I will tolerate and what I will not. We revisited them before the wedding to make sure we were on the same page with that. I’m looking forward to your family boundaries video, that’s my biggest struggle. Thanks again for your wisdom and advice Dr. Michelle! ❤️🌺

Thanks for the video. Great tips. My boundaries, is never touch me uninvited, never blow a horn when picking me up, never talk on a phone while we are on a date. I should only have to tell the man I am dating a dislike I may have one time, if he violates then he isn't right for me. God bless you. Keep producing great videos. 👍

I love to hear that you have enough self-awareness to know what your boundaries are for dating. I would urge you to consider moving forwards with empathy and Grace for your partner though. Sometimes we're asking people to respect boundaries that they're not used to having. For example, I don't like physical touch early in a relationship and some people grew up in touchy-feely families so it's normal for them. It takes time to get out of those habits even when it's something that they want to honor on your behalf. I say all this to say it may be a little strong to only allow one strike and then you're done. Some boundary violations are a one and done but some violations aren't. Just something to consider. God bless you.

Hi, I think these are a very relevant topic. But I also want more clarity about the differences between marriage and dating. And the dos and don’ts of both. For example we know what a girlfriend shouldn’t do, but what should she do?
@natashadickson48192 жыл бұрын
She should require marriage and let him go if he doesn't want that.
@isiomaoyana78452 жыл бұрын
Hy,from what I understand so far ,the difference between marriage and dating is that in marraige youre legally and spiritually bond yourself ,the man youve chosen and God ,dating youre vetting ,interviewing more like it to see if the man that has presented himself is marriage worthy And what a girl should do? You should first be yourself ,say what you would take and what you would not take and act accordingly, respect him, most times the men do most of the work though all we have to do is receive and reciprocate where necessary, for example he should care for you,provide for you,take you on dates ,buy you gifts while you receive them and then take care of him,care about it. To really answer this part ,theres really no road map ,it all boils down to who youre with, what his values are and his person and who you are too.

Wait till your married and make sure the man is a god fearing man and who has accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. This is the only way to have a healthy and lasting marriage. It must be with god. Just like a third cord string , you need god to tie you and your husband to make it stronger . With only two strings it’s weak that’s why there’s so many divorces because that third string has been missing from the marriage . Very simple . Not confusing . You won’t be deceived by the enemy when you have the gift of the Holy Spirit .

Thank you for this video. ❤ I started putting my phone on dnd to prevent ppl from calling me late at night. If they ask why i dont answer i reply, i have work so i get to bed early, or i really need to make sure i get blank hrs of sleep or I am no good to anyone. When i announced my phone boundary or any boundary men tested them even more. I learned to enforce most of my boundaries without announcing them because they understand actions better.

I am not afraid of my bf leaving if he wanted to leave I would peacefully let him. Although that peace will not be reciprocated. I lay out everything in the beginning and he has walked all over my boundaries and when I bring it up or voice my opinion he gets completely stupid and acts like a child, he is argumentative and mean and destructive anytime something uncomfortable comes up. I can’t speak about anything on my mind ever, it’s gotten so bad I don’t say anything anymore just to keep the peace. No I am not mean no I do not attack I just simply talk. I’m scared to open my mouth no matter how much it’s killing me on the inside bc he will go ballistic/out of control. I want to leave but I have no money to leave nor anywhere to go.

This sounds really difficult and I’m sorry you have to go through it. Ifyou have family that is not abusive reaching out to them for help is a very courageous step. If that’s not an option, there are often centers to help women leaving dangerous relationships that can help you in the short term.

There was a so called dating coach who insisted that women in their early twenties should focus on settling down as the market gets tougher when they’re older. There’s no thought about getting experience in life, no thoughts on setting boundaries and having standards. He’s not interested in all that just that we women should simply settle down as early as possible or die alone. I stopped listening to his emotionally blackmailing advice
