(Relax, no spoiler ahead) Huge info is skipped and contents are changed in this & next ep. In the light novel, Gallus explained to Deadend his allies had kidnapped something would cause problems in the future. Base on the info we saw, he probably means the dog. The smugglers didn't kill the kid, naturally. They are merchants, not killers, killing is losing profits for them. Also, even Rudy won't be lewd when a kid just died nearby. The smuggler led Rudy to Ruijerd was pretty nice, warned Rudy to be careful of his ear being bitten off when Ruijerd whispered to Rudy, when Rudy was releasing Ruijerd, he was like "what are you doing! he will go on a rampage!" Rudy replied with "don't worry, he completely listens to me", followed with "doesn't mean he won't go on a rampage though". After killing the smugglers, Rudy burned the corpses and left Kishirika's name on the wall. Also, to Ruijerd, smuggling isn't evil, but to smuggle a child is. The reason why Rudy's name was mistaken by public was whenever he completed a mission, he left Ruijerd's name, when he failed one, he left his, that's why people believe "Rujerd" was good for nothing. A lot of things was cut or changed in ep 11 and ep 5, like how Superd's spears come from, how Deadend dealt with P-hunter and Nokopara, how Rudy and Eris escaped from the kidnappers. The anime changed so much probably to simplify things and to justify Ruijerd's killing for this time, but I would say sometimes they cause confusion and lower the experience.

This episode is a great example why Mushoku Tensei is one of the best world buildings stories.

14:50 In the novel, Ruijerd piled them all up and Rudeus burned them. It's a bad idea to leave corpses lying around, especially close to the wilderness. The smell of blood attracts monsters to feast on the carcasses, and if the corpses remain even relatively intact, they'd rise again as zombies after some time. Mana necessitates cremation as the sole accepted form of burial.

In the novel the smugglers bodies were stacked outside the hideout and rudeus incinerated them.

I don't know If eris family treated them poorly. But it's never clear imo. Their family seemed to also do beast things..so I think there was some care for beast people. But yeah. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

“Why” wasn’t Rudeus with Eris and Ruijerd? Do you remember or did you forget it? He followed the words of the Man-God, who told him to buy food and wander the back alleys and he’d get something good. Part of it was so that he’d get the Eye of Foresight, which would then get them their path to getting Ruijerd across the ocean. Part of it was to deliberately keep Roxy and Rudy apart as Roxy was needed to go elsewhere as well as Rudy would later meet someone else. It’s not coincidental what’s happening, Rudy’s life is being subtly manipulated by the Man-God for things we don’t yet know about, he’s being directed in such a perfect way that it’s hard to catch on a first watch through that it looks like it’s all just anime coincidence, when it’s really manipulation. After this, Rudy repairs a family relationship with an accidental word being used that had been a shattered family for nearly 20 years. And it’s all due to him not meeting up with Roxy and gaining the monetary help from the Search and Rescue squad that Roxy is part of.
