Synodality and lay involvement has a very long and rich history within the church, far far before V II. Laypeople used to have a vote bishops! Christ is the Church’s head and we are the Body. The Body matters, we are all called to be saints, to be Christ’s apostles, to a lay priesthood through our baptism.
